Works just like a baffled catch can, to seperate as much oil from the blow by gas as possible, so when it vents through the PCV you're not getting an overwelming amount of oil back into your intake stream.
If you look at the underside of the 26 covers you'll notice the difference between, R32/R33, R34, Nismo, and Mine's.
