Ingalls camber bolts p/n: 81250 - installation instructions are quite vague

Ok, so I have lowered my 1990 240sx xe coupe on eibach sportlines (yes the lowest springs).

I felt some vibration and wobbling in the steering of the vehicle for a long time now and in chasing down the problem, I started replacing things that looked worn in the front suspension.

I removed the front tension rods and replaced them with the adjustable TEIN tension rods.

I removed the torn outer tie rods and replaced them with new inner and outer TEIN tie rods.

I also removed the torns steering rack boots and used new napa ones.

BUT I'm still getting some vibration in the steering when cruising over 50mph. I definitely notice some has disappeared.

I also noticed that my tires are wearing out on the inside, so I decided to get a new alignment, but before that I went ahead and purchased some Ingalls camber adjustment bolts.

These bolts go in upper of the two bolt holes for the lower shock mounting point, and are supposed to give you +/- two degrees of camber adjustment.

I installed with the bolt head oriented towards the front of the car, the arrow on the bolt head pointing inwards toward the motor, and the washer tab pointing away from the car toward the back side of the wheel.

According to the directions, this is supposed to give +2 degrees of camber (I'm hoping this will correct the negative camber from lowering the car).

Now, did I install the bolts correctly? I can't really tell a difference visually - to me it looks like there's still quite a bit of negative camber in the front.....

If it helps, I'll post up some pictures in a bit to show what I'm talking about.

You need to let the alignment shop determine if the bolts worked well enough. Some negative camber is fine, in fact preffered for aggressive driving. Eyeballing the wheels is not enough, the car needs to be put on an alignment rack. Buying the bolts ahead of time was a good idea though. That way the alignment tech can make the necessary adjustestments.Your tire wear and shaking is probably from the toe being way off. just about all the parts you replaced should have required an alignment when done.

the vibration problem makes it sound like you need your wheels balanced also. tires could be adding to the problem, too. i would get those things checked out while you're at it

I experienced some vibration in my car as well, turns my tie rod end was shot. Replaced it and all is well.

I definitely need an alignment, but I'm not going to do it until I get my coilovers/camber plates installed

Yeah I just finished putting all this stuff on.

I just wanted to make sure I put the bolts on correctly before taking the car to the alignment shop.

yeah i had the wheels balanced with new tires not too long ago..... I dunno - I'm hoping maybe it's just that I need hub rings for my wheels or something.....

But of course an alignment is getting done this week - I'm just waiting to put the new steering rack bushings on first.

not to thread jack or anything (searched for this), but I have too much negative camber and I'm running tein springs that lower the front about 1.6". These Ingalls camber bolts actually correct the camber if installed properly by a professional? Anyone else try them with success?

Camber bolts will work just dandy to fix your problem - usually able to correct .5 - 1 degree, more or less (I think more toward the 1 degree range).

1.6" lowered, hahaha, that's cute, .

yeah, i know. it was just something to get away from the 4by4 look for right now. Once I get done being broke in college I'm going to get some Stance coilovers and drop it where i want it.

The camber bolts work very well. I used them before I installed coilovers and use them still even with camber plates. I was able to adjust the plates out enough so that I have a true 0* and the hash marks actually have a reference value for me. Though I am quite pleased at 1.5* negative up front.
