I received my Viper 5002 system and plan on doing the installation myself. I could bring it to a shop and have it installed but would rather do it myself so that I can learn things and hopefully have a better alarm installation then the shops (places I talked to told me they put the brain module under the steering wheel column area so that they can easily program the thing).
I have a 2007 Versa S with the power package installed but without any alarm system. The Viper 5002 system is basically the same as the viper 5900 (791vx) except without the remote start (driving manual so that would not be a good idea).
I have read up on installing alarm systems and know mostly what I'm doing. I just have a few questions. First of all, I saw that many of the wires found in the driver/passenger kick panels went back to the BCM module (wiring info gotten from this thread: zerothread?id=261082 ). Would it be fine to splice into the wires at this location? I was originally going to install the brain under my headunit under the center panels but found that it would be better to mount the brain above the glove box right near the BCM.
I also had a question about the doors. I believe that the system is the same as what is described on this page: http://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/doorlocks.asp (Single Wire System).
Finally, how does the alarm work with the current installed module? I know there is an output which disables the factory car alarm, but I don't have a car alarm. Though, the panic button on the car fob acts like a car alarm. Do I just have the splice into the existing wire for the new car alarm and not have to worry about the existing system in place?

Yes, most of the wires are behind the glove box, and you can just get them there. Since you're not doing a remote start, you wont have to run any really heavy gauge wire to the steering column, Just make sure any wires you do extend, you do not minimize the gauge of the wire.
You do not have the single wire door locks. You have a seperate wire for lock and unlock. They are a negative trigger, so you dont even have to use the relay pack that comes with the viper systems. You can run a straight negative trigger off the main module. On most viper systems, its a 3 wire harness, sometimes with a plug on both ends. If this is the case, cut off the plug that fits into the Relay pack, and use those 2 wires. Its a Blue/Red/Green harness. The Red is not used. Some of the systems comes with an extra harness, so you dont have to cut off the plug for the relay pack. If it comes with a extra harness, it will only be a small 2 wire harness with only a Blue and Green wire, the red will not be on it. If it has the 2 wire harness, just use that.
If you dont have a factory alarm, you shouldn't have to worry about the factory alarm-disarm wire. I wouldn't worry about.
The panic button on the Viper system is 100% aftermarket. If you feel you are endanger, hit that button for a couple seconds, and the siren on the viper system will start to go off.

I now understand how the door locking/unlocking works. The system is what is described in this booklet as the three wire ground pulse, with one wire for ground continually, one - for lock, and one - for unlock. The way the alarm is set up, there are two relays built into the brain for lock/unlock, but it is used as you said. Both 87's are hooked to the chassis, one 30 goes to lock and the other 30 goes to unlock. 87a is not used for both.
I just have a few more questions. There is a wire for the door trigger input. There are two wires, but I believe I need to use the (-) input. What do I do with this wire? There is also a second unlock ouput (200mA) for progressive locks where the driver unlocks first and then the second press unlocks the rest of the doors (how it is configured in the car currently). What do I do with this wire?
On the 2nd harness, there is a retained accessory output, which is connected to the accessory wire. What does this do exactly and the booklet states that additional relays are required for most applications.

yea, you wont need tach or brake, im still in Remote start mode.

As for the Door locks, I have never bothered to set up a 2nd pulse unlock feature. I always set it up so all doors unlock on the first pulse. Therefore, I never use the 2nd unlock output wire.
That accessory pack, may be for additional outputs, like a channel 3 and 4 and so on, im sorry but Im not familiar with accessory pack you're talking about. Don't worry, you're more than enough help. In that list, you included the accessory wires. There is a wire to hook up the accessory wire to in the harness, but I just do not know what it would be used for in the alarm.
And it would be fine just to use the dome light wire for the door trigger input? I guess that would also control the trunk being opened too.

I would hook up the acc wire, not sure if that system uses the Ign or acc, but the system needs to be able to sense when you turn the key, either for programing or possibly some other type of manual system shut off.
Every system I do, normally includes, Constant, Ign, Acc, starter, possibly a Ign 2 and Acc 2. I know what every wire operates in the car, but im not 100% sure, which wire the Viper system checks for certain operations.
I kinda have the mentality of, its right there in the Ign harness with the other wires your hooking up, might as well hook it up too. lol.
Yes, if the hatch being opened triggers the dome light, then it would also set off the alarm.
I havent done my Versa yet, but Ive looked over the chart to see how difficult it was. By looking at the chart, to me it looks simple, but sometimes things change when you get inside.
Always be sure to test every wire, Dont take my word, or anybody else's. Yes, I will try to help if I can, but remember, some cars may have 10 different Blk with red strip wires. Its up to you to test to make sure you have each wire correctly hooked up.

That's where the DMM comes in. Hopefully mine still works correctly.
