Regarding my post on A/C compressor operation, I found an error in the Infiniti Help web site.It states that setting the Climate Control to "Econ" shuts the compressor off.
This is FALSE. As I stated, it only sets the compressor into a reduced capacity mode. To completely turn the compressor off, the #6 button below the Nav system MUST be pushed TWICE. The "AUTO"/Econ" reading then goes blank. THIS is the only way to completely turn the compressor off, at least on my 2005. Earlier model F50s may differ.
This is NOT applicable to G50. Hitting the "Econ" control on them DOES indeed turn the compressor off AFAIK.
FWIW, if you smoke, as I do, he "Econ" setting recirculates some cabin air, even with the Inside/Outside air control set to Outside. That makes the car stink. But turning the compressor completely off and leaving ONE (and only one, preferably the drivers) window cracked about 1" with the blower on "High" will blow the smoke out the window and keep the car from getting that stale tobacco smell. This doesn't work with more than one window open.
