So, New to the forum looks like alot of good resources. I just got my hands on a 94q with under 60k miles on it thats been sitting for the past few years(6-7). I know it has a few issues, mainly it has a large knock coming from the engine. I did notice that the main fuse was missing and had a wire jammed in it, not sure it it is part of the problem. The 75amp main fuse in the engine bay. Because of the knock I was preparing to pull the motor and rebuild, any advice on this would be great from what I've read it looks like I need to pull motor and transmission together, if I can leave the transmission and make the job easier I would be very happy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Replace wire with the correct fuse and see the link in my signature for more info.

What kind of knock is comming from the engine and where?\

When does it knock and does it increase/decrease at all?

Can you record the sound?

I cant record it now have most of the front taken apart. My intention is to check the timing chain, I had a similar noise from an acura and it was the timing belt tensioner broke, was lucky no major damage. The noise is LOUD, the last owner said that he parked it after hearing the noise and never got around to checking it out. oh, the noise is from Start up and I haven't let it run at all after that

Measure the oil pressure, my bet is bearing failure.

Paul,I'm sure its something bad like that. So, I'm going to continue to just pull the engine and check over everything. Do I have to pull the transmission out like the manual says or is there an easier way. The manual I got with the car only describes how to drop the motor under the car, and not how to pull it out with a cherry picker.
