4 days ago i was browsing craigslist and found a 1995 240sx for 1500. i checked it out and i called the guy. i expected the car to be gone as they all are (been searching for about a year and a half), and to my surprise he still had it so i went to go check it out... 80 miles a way. i had only 800 and borrowed 700 from my mom. i think i got a good deal. came with some rust on the rockers and various other places under the hood but runs great and came with a bunch of extras most not installed:-Apexi N1 dual exhaust-Headers(of some sort)-VLSD installed -the Stock Diff-Megan Short Shifter-Fresh Set of Takico Blue struts installed all the way around-Ebachi lowering springs installedyea. can someone tell me that i got a good deal or if i didnt?i mean it has rust on the rorckers but not really anywhere else

Pictures will be up tomorrow too tired lol.

Nice Find! I think you got a better deal than me.

Craigslist is the s***! I've gotten my last 3 jobs, two cars, and a hooker from Craigslist.

As long as everything is OK as far as rust goes it sounds like a good deal. I'll save the congrats until after I see some photos though!

sorry it took so long with the pics but here they are.

i think someone took a blow torch to this part.

i dont know if these are any specific type of headers or if they are just replacement headers?

the exhaust. i think im going to trade it away for the brake parts i need or anything else.

the Megan short shifter, again something im thinking of getting rid of or trading for other parts.

all in all i think its ok. the rust kinda scares me now that i look at it. also i need to do brake work on it and i need a high pressure power steering line. any info, input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. please i dont need the whole "noob" thing, just help will be fine.

Next time hit enter after each pic, makes them go on forever out to the right if you don't.

And good Lord that's a lot of rust.

Sounded good until I saw the pics. That rust is horrible.

I'm into recycling and all, but rotting back into the earth isn't a good sign.

That's a point A to Point B vehicle, don't try to make it do anything else.

"Craigslist gold", no, not even Craigslist patina...

Cripes... covered maybe.. but not solved. If the exterior is rotting that badly, I'm sure the frame rails are as well. What a nightmare.

I might re-title this thread to "craigslist mold" instead of gold. That car has more cancer than the members of the american cancer society.

Tell you what though... this is a great learning experience.. you are only out $1500. Plus, if you have a lot of free time, you can take apart the entire car and part it out and make back some of the money.

congrats on the new car. the rust is an issue. but get a sand blaster, some osfo, a welder, and sheet metal and you can fix it pretty easy with some time.

800 might have been a good deal, I bet you could kick a hole in the drivers side quarter panel. You car has cancer and you need to do something fast to save it.

ya know what i am still excited and im gonna have to agree with motoman399. the rust is s***y, cancerous , "FUUUUUUUU", i am agreeing with you all. thing is my brother can do body work, and i have 3 friends who are in college for the stuff and they all said the same thing but they also it is feasible its just gonna take some work so im not worried . i just wanted the car to drive lol. the engine runs, no knocks and such, and it only had 121000 miles on it. a lot of the other ones i looked that were stock had rust in some of the same exact spots (as far as the rocker panels go) had like 200000 miles and up. anyone who would be willing to give advice on the whole rust issue, removing it ,cutting it out, neutralizing it without cringing would be great!
