I had both cats removed from my 94 Q45 and replaced them with a straight pipe. A couple of days later the engine started missing occassinally like one of the coils was going out. Could this have been caused by the cat removal?

Did you remove the O2 sensors also?

Hope you got big money for the converters. They are about $1400 each.

doubtful, i would run a obdii scan on it and see what pops up.. who knows..see what codes pop up if any and take it from there..

as far as the 1400 cost for each cat goes..thats a bit far fetched to say the least. but hopefully you recyclyed those fellas and got a little do-reh-me.

Also might want to reconsider broadcasting to the world you broke a federal law? You never know who may be reading these boards.

Call your dealer up and ask then post back.

They were $1100 form Joe over a year ago. Lots of precious metals in the Infiniti converters, which is why they last 20 years if the engine is maintained.

I noticed that the misfire doee not occur when i start it cold. Once the engine warms up, the the misfire begins.

Lots of precious metals indeed, i dont disagree with you there.. but search for oem replacements not coming from a stealership and the average range is 340 a pop.

In the 2 years I've owned mine, any misfire issue is usually cleared up by running good gas through it along with some fuel system miracle jizz. Since I travel like a mofo I am unable to refuel with one specific brand of go juice. I am also exposed to who knows what's in a particular stations tanks. IOW, I would doubt that the cats would be the culprit, but perhaps those mothers have plenty to do with back psi and all kinds of funky stuff is about to happen to your car as a result of their removal.

As far as the MJ, I used to run BG44 but no more. Now it's usually techron simply because it's readily available. I read something here about another product being superior but my feeble brain has been so severely taxed and abused over the years that just matching my socks has become a major brain drain. In fact, it took me 14 tries and 50 minutes just to type this message.

Hey, I just noticed that it's MARTINI TIME!

Aftermarket junk wih few precious metals should not be confused with OEM value with more precioius metals and better construction, especially with reard to converters.

Redline S1 is the best product on the market because of it's high content of PEA. Gumout Regane used to have PEA but it isn't listed on the msds anymore

I pulled code 34 from the ECU. The knock sensors need to be replaced. How difficut are they to replace? What other parts should I replace while I am doing the repairs?

hundreds of previous posts and pictures on replacement procedure.....search for knock sensors or plenum removal.....its all in there, including complete parts numbers and costs{about $1000 in parts alone to do job correctly}
