I bought this stuff because of GREAT reviews in hopes of knocking the interior noise down by 3dB (half/50%).

So that I don't hear less due to spending $38 on this stuff I am going to use dB meters to measure noise in controlled situations.

Stay tuned for the results...

Cant wait to hear the news on this one. What parts of the car are you going to apply this to?

I will start by just doing the wheelwells then use the dB meter to compare before and after.

If the results are decent then onto the under carriage then more testing...

It's likely rubberized Asphalt spray which I use in all my cars wheel wells. It does make a difference, you'll see. I'm just a bit skeptical that it's any better than the stuff I bought at Canadian Tire which cost me $6.99 per can http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST...g.jsp

When applying focus on the metal body parts not so much the plastic liner in the wheel well. I found that there's only a small amount of metal body that's immediately visible from the wheel well. I recommend taking the liner off and spraying the metal body underneath.

Focus on the wheel wells with these two cans and get your undercarriage sprayed with an self healing antirust compound instead. It'll cost less and be less of a mess to you.

A few safety tips for you is wear latex gloves, a P95 mask and safety glasses.

This is a very inexpensive but often overlooked process.

Dynamat'ing our cars would reduce exterior noise caused by body vibrations yes I would say it's good but is it worth it? Well flea-bay sells original dynamat at 36sqft for $140. In order for it to be effective you need to remove everything off the floor of the car including seats, center console, back seats, carpet and the infiniti OEM sound insulating mats. This stuff has to be applied to the metal body directly to be as effective as advertisted. I've used some other similar stuff and it seemed to work but the biggest drawback to applying this is weight. Dynamat weighs in at 0.45lbs per sqft. If you don't mind that and have the $$$ and time to take your car appart then do it.

I love watching the car restoration shows and I can't remember the name of one I watched a few years back but they restored a classic Mustang. Because of the big, loud engine they used dynamating underneath the OEM insulation and once completed they said it sounded very quiet inside. I'll always remember that stang. It was a special edition of that show where they attempted to celebrate the new design by fabing the old 67 body as close as possible to the newer one.

Here's a great time-lapse vid to watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...lated

Appreciate the feedback msvara. Sounds like you have knowledge in this area. $38 is not a lot of money in either case. If it helps then the money is very well spent.

Dynamat is great but like msvara said, a pain in the azz to apply and very costly both dollar wise and time wise.

I'll get started this weekend hopefully.

Again, thanks for your input msvara.

Keep us posted, when I first drove the M all I could hear is the engine. Now after a few thousand miles, I hear the a lot of road noise, even changed out my tires and got a good result at first, now I hear the tire noise again. $38 is not a lot if it helps out, if it does not that a not a small amount to throw away either, worth the gamble. I hope it works out cause I will be next. When you do it take notes so we can follow suit. Thanks a million.

After many miles of listening, I determined most of the noise comes from the the front of the car in the name of front tire noise(at least in my case).

With that in mind, I attacked the front wheel wells "only" with this product.

GREAT product! I did not want to spend the money on the meter but the ears say a nice 40% reduction in noise.

My only advice is buy (4) bottles and do 2 coats on each front wheelwell (with the wheelwell covers off) on seperate occasions to get the most reduction.

$76.00 well spent...
