So ive listened to what everyone was telling me. and im swaping a 5sp into my car.

I havnt let you guys know what I have been up to in a while so here it goes.

I got a 5sp outta a 1994 king cab (2WD) with wiring for 100 bucks got a 240sx driveshaft (no abs) s13 for 100 bucks picking up a new clutch kit on friday for 157.00 possiblily short throw shifter for 80.00 im going to build my own crossmember tospec because i cant find one.

anybody have any questions or comments? I hopin this pickup transmission will be the same (or close to it) cuz i need my daily driver back.

fyi i swaped out the motor cuz mine started to knock (.5 million km) then the transmission went not more then 3 hours after the motor was in

Thanks for the info. I know the guys that the transmission come from, and they said the truck hit 180kmh before it topped out. So would I be wrong to think the gear ratios are pretty close still?

I don't think I'm going to be buying a short throw shifter now. I might just cut down/ bend / weld it into one that will work in my car.

I'll try to get pics of it up when I'm done.

ya i had a hard time with mine also. i think i ended up taking my cut off wheel and cutting a groove in it and then hitting it with a screwdriver and a hammer in the groove. and like twisting it out.

So I got it out. I ended up drillling it out. After I see compressed air to get any shavings out. Then I installed all my parts.

I had to make the mt one bigger tho cuz the f***ers at napa gave me the wrong size which I found out after it was in.

Then the drive shaft ended up being too short, by 4 or 5 inches.

Long story short this car might find itself at the scrap yard cuz I'm sick of it.

Might go back to Chevy

transmission is for sure too short. you might be able to use a 240 out put shaft and a 240 bell housing. i think that would be your best bet. and if that doesnt work then send me the 1st/2nd gear and 5th/rev shift forks lol.

its ok im sure this cross member will work if anything. and its a different size so im sure a regular one wont work anyway.

and motoman339 u might just get it if your in the area cuz either im buying another transmission (240sx not a dam truck). if i cant get my hands on a transmission im scraping the car, cuz im done if so.

dam im pissed. i f***ING HATE BEING MISINFORMED.

hmmm for sure not in the area. but i would think you could get a busted trans for a decent price somewhere around your area. but if you do end up getting rid of it, like i said i need some parts lol. and i would take the syncros also

i have a trans that is pretty well shot. but i want to fix it for a spare. gonna be boosted soon and dont want to blow my only one

-but i just wanted to be cheap i guess buying the cheaper trans from a truck instead of a regular one.

The piece under the taillights, needs an 8mm deepwell socket, and remove all the bolts under the tali lights the third nut down(bottom one) on the out side then remove the nuts on the extra long bolts. Then it comes out.

i just used the at crossmember, but i only got it to work with 2 bolts holding it instead of the 4. next time you pull out a pilot bushing go down and rent a blind hole puller tool. it took me all of about one minute and that sucker was out. nice progress, dont get discouraged!

I would of went down and rented one but i live out in the middle of no where... (not really but noone in town rents those) so the next best thing was a air chisel.

Why not just use an SR trans with a KA bell housing if you want a shorter 5th?

I dont think i can find a sr transmission, and i really dont care about the shorter 5th thats just the transmission i found for the right price.

Thanks. parts in this area are pretty hard to come by. they had to order the clutch for this transmission from ontairio, and i live in alberta.

and thats another thing. im worried about the clutch. i just spent some $$ on it and now i dont no if i should get another transmission cuz of the clutch difference.
