1990 injectors madness

I was told that in 1990 Cylinders #1 and #4 used different injectors than #2 and #3.And that they were changed with the production dates of the KA24E

So an engine made in March 1990 used different injectors than one in October.Is any of this true? A mechanic at a Gold Shield California smog repair station told me this. And he wanted to match the injectors to the month the engine was produced.

it doesnt sound right. dont understand why it use different injectors. the only one i know that has two different injectors are the rx7's

2 different mechanics told me about this. The crazy part is changing them by the engine production dates.

They do not use different injectors for different cylinders.According to my source all the injectors in an S13 with a KAE engine should have red wire connectors on the injectors if they are OEM.

The problem is that Whiteknight can't just walk into the emissions testing place and tell them how things are going to be; the shoe is not on his foot. They are going to split hairs and they don't care about intuition or what anyone has to say. That is what is so mad about it.

Yeah ,California is turning into a socialist police state. And what are these Gold Shield shops?

the injectors oem are all the same..and interchangable from cylinder to cylinder...now the gold shield smog places are just cali's way of employing more state workers and to milk more taxes in the form of emissions fines from its residents...sucks..but hay..its cali...and thats why i moved!

The Gold Shield mechanics said the injectors are marked with a colored dot. "Black, or red or blue". And they wanted to match the color coded injectors with the proper cylinder. So they took out the injectors to have them flow checked on a bench and put them back and said that the $500 CAP money was all used so I had to get a waiver.

So if your car doesn't pass the smog check you have to have your car repaired there? An independent shop can't fix it?

If in the CAP program or required to test at a TEST ONLY station--then only Gold Shield shops can repair the car.

Glad i don't live there,our inspection process is flawed but at least you can get your car repaired where you want to.

ive never heard of injectors being different from cylinder to cylinder? and i dont see how they could be because the cc/min would have to be the same anyways?.... but cali emisions sounds crazy.... where i live if its older than 96 then they just check if the lights work and the horn works...lol they dont even look for a cat haha

In California--you must have an OBD2 cat and they are numbered. Must buy from a muffler shop only.
