hey does anyone by any chance live in texas close to north texas, i have a 1983 datsun king cab, need help with the motor, im not a motor guy and i dont know where to start on it lol

Fix it yourself with help online here. What is wrong with the motor. Its easy to find solutions in search but if not ask and you will get answers.

well im a body man of 5 years, not a motor guy other than oil changes, theres a couple current problems its a 1983 720 datsun king cab, the guy who gave it to me says he replaced the motor with a 1980 model its a manual, first i cant get it to even crank,, good battery good starter replaced all the vacum lines, if i can get it to crank maybe i can get it running, but the guy said, theres a manual switch that needs turned, cuz it was an automatic before hand , i dont know what to look for... so far ive lowered it 3 inches in the back put air shocks about 3 iches in the front and started welding up holes on the body.

Cody, I looked at the electrical diagram and there is a switch for neutral that isn't present in the manual, but where the heck it is I couldn't tell you. If no one here chimes in you might ask someone who works on automatic transmissions for a living. Its not much, but its worth a shot.

Now this is off an 83 but should still apply. The clutch switch is located in the cab under the dash just left of the flasher relat assembly. The neutral switch is in the transmission, two spade type connectors on the passenger side close to the shifter.

so i need to flip both switches one under the dash and one on the transmission? ill try and get out there tonight to look for it , might not till tomorrow were getting hit hard here with cold weather and its hard to get motavated to go work on it thanks for the in fo guys

cold here to i live in the easten panhandle of west virgina. 30inchs of snow. my 720 isnt going to move till the roads are clear.

itss not that cold here but being from texas im use to warm weather not this cold weather but dogred are this like switchs that need to be flip or somthing else

If you have a manual transmission, there are two connections at the top back of the transmission close to the shifter connection. There should be two wires that have to connect to the transmission.

Since the wiring harnesses are the same for the automatic and manual you just have to find the two that will reach back there and connect them.(They just did not use what ever plugs that did not pertain to the options that are on your rig, so they should be tucked away some where down there) They are round single wire connectors.

I'm not close to my manual, but dogred is right. These terminals just need plugging into each other. One is a male and the other is female.

ok well found the wires on the transmission thanks for the pics on that one lol, and the one under the dash, is it the clutch inter lock switch, or the ascd clutch switch? i only found one plug un der the dash not hooked to anything it has four wires ran to it, can i just run a bypass wires to the ones on the transmissin to the one under the dash im still confussed on this whole or deal, and this weekend will have pics up on the site of the 720 if the weather is clear.

Check the group of wires that go to the transmission from the fire wall. It should have 4 or 6 wire depending on you truck. Cant tell the colors but there are two wires to connect together. My manual does not carry the automatic.
