Has anyone done this before? I'm assuming that the tb could be used to adjust the idle.

You could technically adjust the throttle plate's closed position vie the stopper screw I suppose, but I don't think it can be adjusted enough to allow the car to idle. The IACV is pretty much a core component for running the car. Now, however, if you could mount a throttle body that has an adjustable butterfly flap, then you could do what you want to do. I know Gen 1 DSMs (and I would assume all 4G63 powered DSMs) use adjustable butterfly valves.

ive done it on my ka, and my buddy did it on the sr im getting from him. cold starts were a little difficult but its fine
