One really cold morning, I went to start my car to warm up before work. I sat inside for a little bit and noticed the temp gauge would bounce up and then back down... really peculiar. It started fine and warmed up to normal operating temp. Anyone else ever encounter this? Damn you cold Wisconsin...

Most likely due to cold-sensitive coolant temp sensor connector. Clean the connector with Contact Cleaner and then apply Dielectric Grease.
