Shift lock

I could not shift my 2008 Rogue this morning; floor shift was locked in park. Finally popped the shift lock release cover and tried it again and I was able to shift to Drive. Car going to dealer on Monday. Any advise on what may have caused this-I have about 20,000 miles on my Rogue Initial reaction from Nissan servie advisor is that it might be hard for them to pinpoint why this happened unless I towed the car to them with the shift locked and ubale tomopve to N or D..

So this just happened the one time and now it seems to unlock properly again? If so, I'd agree that intermittent problems can be very hard to track down, BUT this lock mechanism can't be that complex. I'm sure they can have a look and maybe the problem will be obivous.

You're the first person I've seen on this forum with this problem, please report back after your trip on Monday with the results. Thanks for posting and sorry I couldn't be more helpful, like I said I have no experience with this issue.
