wired up my friends 240 for an sr swap, fired up first time and idled perfect, but when I turned the key off, it wouldn't turn off. Had to pull alt fuse in order to do so.

Is there any common wire that is crossed or mixed up that provides power from switch to both fuel pump and ignition?

I'm thinking ignition switch may be faulty as the car ran fine before and the wiring harness out of another car ran great before as well.

If needed I can give you a list of all wires wired up and where to.

Any insight will be appreciated and whomever finds out what's wrong with it will get a small paypal donation

-Cheers

well it started misfiring and narrowed it down to cylinder #4 injector was not providing fuel. pulled injector one off and car bogged, #2 off and it bogged, but when u unpluge #4 it doesnt do anything :/ but.... i still doesnt solve the problem of car not turning off with key. have to pull main power

well spark plug in cylinder #4 wasnt even tight. tightened it, no difference. swap coils with cylinder #1, nothing. put a noid light on injector plug, signal. but misfiring does go away when u rev past 2k rpms.

Well, since no one has answered (and I'm not a wiring person) and you're willing to pay a little bit, try contacting Wiring Specialities for advice (you know with a $30 advice fee or something). You could also try e-mailing Hijacker (SR moderator) or mrgreeneyes (his NICO screenname) I believe he is the guy the Lancaster PA members call the wiring guru. GL

Does the car have a turbo timer? Make sure the ground is hook up properly.

try unplugging the leads to your alternator and see if your car cuts off I have seen problems with alternator wiring do this and I have also seen shorted alternators calls this problem if you cancel them out of the program and your car starts and cuts off properly your wiring problem is in the charging system start by having alternator checked and make sure you didn't reverse a wiring to the plug that go to alternator.

I don't see how the ecu can cause your car to not shut off. My understanding is the ignition switch being turned off kills all power.

Check the ignition switch pin, take the ecu out and take the cover off and take the trace that goes to that pin and figure out if its burnt somewhere. Usually it will fry the diode that looks like a small ball with a grey stripe on it. It only is supposed to let power go one direction and when power surges through it, it allows power to travel both ways. It is repairable but you need to make sure thats the problem first.

Most commonly its caused by the Mafs wiring shorting out somewhere.

Ecu is burnt. That diode is fried.. looks like a main power wire touched ground on the harness. It's being repaired and new ECU is here.

Did you ever find out why your car won't shut off? I have a Z32 that won't shut off and was thinking that maybe it could be the same problem.

Had this happen in my SR that I had when I was in the states, maf was improperly connected by prev O. (Read: solder & wires ended up touching ) blew the hell out of the ECU, and yup, damn thing kept running. Had to get a new MAF & ECU (it was way past gone).

soo... turns on and off now but misfires. new ecu, ignitor chip, coil packs and plugs. coil harness was kinda ghetto so thats suspect, can fuel pump also cause it not to run right? its a worn SOHC fuel pump right now ha. wally 255 on the way, with coil harness, u think this should fix it?
