Wanted to start a thread for the VK56 engine/swaps since very little information is available here on NICO. Any links, information, compatibility, articles and videos are welcomed. I am in the early planning stages for a Titanized Frontier and a 560ZX very shortly.

I have been only able to verify four running and completed car swaps of the VK56. One 350z, two G35s, and one S15. They are all drift cars that are quite a bit hacked up, plus its a difficult swap so a real street car has yet to be done. I also found one verified and running VK swapped Frontier.

I'm hoping this brings forth some knowledge. I have an idea for one of these motors that I would LOVE to do, and will try to do in the future. Although if it is beyond reasonable for a swap into a 240z I don't think I'll do it, considering there is always the VH45 to mess with. Either way, I love the VK motor and can't wait for more info to be up on here, and I'll contribute when I have time to do more research!

i havent looked in the dimension in the service manuals yet. but what are possiblities that the vk 45, and 56 blocks are compatible. my vk45 engine has 130k on it and still strong. but if the engine were to go i would possibly drop vk56 or get a block from vk56 and swap heads if compatible. and then do retune. thanks i will try to make time to look up inFSM

i would say it's very possible, after looking at the 06' m45 at the training center in irving last week, they look very very similiar! only real difference i could see was the intake manifold! good luck

i have a vk56 swapped 2008 frontier. so theres one more confirmed.

i personally know of one other frontier that nissan corp did. they did not release any photos or give any kind of write up. and would not really tell anyone about it. another i know of is an xterra, im not sure who did it exactly. but i know there wasnt much info on it. and they also did not release much of anything on it at all.

i am the only ones i know of that has done it on my own, and on my own dime.

if your really going to do it. your in for a very long haul. what year and model is your fronty?

hahahahah awesome video!!!! thats my frontier. on the bottom video.

doesn't seem like it would be that hard if you could come up with a v8 pathfinder and swap the wiring, but there is alot more complications with newer nissans! i've always wished they would just build one that way!
