Hi All

I know there are differences in the overall engines of a VH45 and a JDM VH41, but are the overall transmission bolt patterns the same between the two? From memory, the starter motors are on different sides of the block, but are the top four or six bolts in the same spots?

Are the sump / oil pan bolt patterns the same between the two? I.e. Does a 45 sump bolt straight onto a 41?

Can you decipher the year model from just an engine number?

Thanks in advance.

Also, a note of thanks to the champion who put up the PDF files of the FSM. An awesome help.

I dont think the 41 and 45 have the same bolt patterns for the transmission and I'm quite sure they have different oil pan flanges too...

I believe the JDM 41 and 45 bolt pattern are the same, i have a 45 adapter plate on my 41, but the starter motor mount is on the opposite side but that dosnt matter as the 41 starter is mounted on the block

I just made both of these adapter plates. Yesterday, and they are really similar, but I just made two different adapter plates specifically to get all of the bolt holes I could. The oil pan bolt holes are different not to mention, the VH41DE has that huge notch out on the passenger side that I had no Idea what that was for, but anyway I have two different adapter plates for either one of these engines. I'll take some pictures and get them up if you guys want??

The adapter plates that I made last night have the following transmission bolt patterns in one adapter:

VH41DE engine to 350Z 6-speed transmission (CD001,Cd005) bolt patterns, 370Z 6-speed(CD009) bolt pattern, KA24DE 5-speed bolt pattern, and Z32(300zx) bolt patterns all in one plate.

VH45DE engine to 350Z 6-speed transmission (CD001,Cd005) bolt patterns, 370Z 6-speed(CD009) bolt pattern, KA24DE 5-speed bolt pattern, and Z32(300zx) bolt patterns all in one plate.

IF you guys have questions(which I'm sure you will) just email me, since I never go on the forums as much as I used to
