  Mehsilvia's - 1992 Vert Build

So i figured its about time to post up my simple Vert build.

This will be my 7th 240, my 1st Convertible, and my new Daily Driver.

Started off with an all original Black 92 that had a broken tie-rod and bad torque converter.

I immediately fixed the tie-rod (inner and outer was bent) and purchased all the parts needed for a 5-speed swap.

* S13 5-speed Transmission
* S13 5-speed Driveshaft
* S13 Clutch Pedal
* S13 Manual Brake Pedal
* Brand new OEM Nissan:
- Clutch Fork & Clip
- Dust boot
- Flywheel bolts
- Transmission Bolts
- Flywheel
- Transmission mount
* Brand new Clutch Master Cylinder
* Brand new Clutch Slave Cylinder
* Brand new Stainless Braided Clutch Line
* Brand new Exedy Clutch
* Brand new Leather Shift Boot
* Brand new Leather Nismo Shift Knob

Then onto the suspension and brakes:

* D-max Driftspec Coilovers
* Ichiba 5-lug front/rear hubs
* Q45 Front brakes
* Drilled, Slotted and Vented front/rear Brake Rotors

Then i mounted up my WORK VS-SS Wheels
(18x8.5 +32 & 18x9.5 +36)

And here she sat:

I then went to work on the interior, which to my surprise, had almost brand new upholstery. I bought this Vert from a friend who had sent me crappy cell phone pics of the car. Didnt care too much about the details cause i was going to modify EVERYTHING as usual.

When i got it, i find that the seats were re-upholstered and a brand new carpet kit had been installed. Not to mention the dash was uncracked and all the power/instruments worked flawlessly.

So i started with the Seatbelt Pillar removal, and swapped in some coupe door panels.

I then installed a sound system

A NRG Black Suede Steering Wheel

And picked up a Vert Boot.

After all of this, i took a bit of a break and just simply enjoyed driving her around.

Took a few pics, and even submitted a few for the NICO Vert Calendar!

Then decided that the faded clearcoat and various scratches needed to be fixed. And well, i also decided to give her a complete make-over, and she went in for paint!

Light Grey/Silver Metallic.

I then decided i wanted her to sit much lower.

I purchased a smaller set of front tires (235/40 to a 215/35) and was able to drop it another 4" in the front. With the mild stretch on the tire, i decided to install a set of hub-centric bolt-on 20mm spacers to help with the wheel fitment:

The Chuki bumper now has little under 4" clearance and the frame-rails sit about 2.5" off the ground

I will soon be swapping my rear 265/35's for 235/40's, and dropping it about 2"

I have since purchased a brand new Black Stay-Fast Cloth Top that will soon be installed. Which will pretty much complete this little project of mine.

Enjoy!
~Chris

Yeah. And i love them. They are the most comfortable coilovers ive owned. Hell of alot better than both the TEIN and Stance i had on my other 240's

Who is this BTW? JXN? Denise? Karl? lol

Come on man. If he says they are better than Tein and Stance that means that they are WAY better than Megan! lol.

Oh, Hai Karl!

Ive been able to test a set of Megans, and they are just not as comfortable. Most of the dampening ajustments on the cheaper coils are s***. They dont allow for any real ajustment - just HARD/SOFT and nothing in between.

The D-Max Driftspec allow you to dial in the dampening. Plus they do drop pretty low without compromising the spring rate or strut travel.

Picked up a set of OEM 180sx Sideskirts

They were already painted a darker shade of grey, so im going to leave them like this until i get my rear valances and Xenon lip. Then have them all painted at the same time.

Definately not my car in that picture. But that is the Xenon lip that i will be getting here shortly. Flows real well with the sideskirts.

And these DMax coilovers are probably the best ive owned. And they are surprisingly comfortable and responsive even while slammed to the ground.

Thanks for the compliments.

cool, I've been trying to get some input from people that DD coilovers, just out of curiosity. Again, the car looks amazing man, I never thought silver would look so good on a vert, but it looks phenomenal.

Hey what does the subwoofer sound like in a convertible? Do you get good bass out of it?

Thanks! I wasnt too sure about Silver either, but very happy with the result.

The subwoofer sounds great, when the top is up. But the bass does get drowned out when its down. I need to find a way to build a custom enclosure to fix this. Just havent had time.

And yeah, i thought that was the EastBear. Didnt really look too closely before i posted.

Oh, and i think ive got a connection to still get the Xenon from the manufacturer. Will see if that pans out.
