I thought this car looked pretty familiar, until I clicked on the "specs" link. Low and behold to my horror... us Impreza owners have a new cousin.

The horror...

UK magazines EVO and CAR "leaked" this info 5 months ago.

Suby WRX cousins/nephews is a ton better than, say, more Neon variants, no?

Actually,I knew that the Forrester would be sold under the GM banner in South America. In turn, GM would sell some of its products in Subaru dealerships in Asia.

I guess it is not all that bad. Atleast GM is not making the car, its basically made by FHI for GM, so the build qualities should be good.

It just seems so damn pointless though. Much like the GMC truck name. POINTLESS!

I was just looking at the 92x on Edmunds coverage of the LA Auto Show and then found this thread...don't know how I missed it the first time.

The 92x *is* just a tarted up WRX, but it sort of makes sense. People who would never buy a Subaru due to brand snobbery will end up getting one anyway. GM/Saab gets some groovy technology, FHI gets more cash, consumer gets more wood trim...sounds like a good deal for all involved. :)
