Hi Group,I would appreciate somefeed back. My engine just blew a value/lifter. It is still under warranty, YIPPEE!. The service advisor is telling me it will be replaced with a remanufactured engine versus a new engine. I not sure I understand the words he used, but he said it would be all "new" parts, and no used parts. But they still don't call it a new engine. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I be demanding a new engine? Any other suggestions in this process? I assume they will transfer the VIN tags to the "remanf" engine.ThanksJames

I have never heard of an Infiniti remanufactured engine. Maybe they have had enough VK failures that they have started a program to reduce their costs? They have remaufactured other components, like alternators and transmissions for years - and those parts have been very good in quality. The quality control for OEM remanufactured parts is vastly different than remanufactured parts you would find at a local parts place.

For the most part you're at your dealership's or Infiniti's mercy as to how they will fulfill their warranty obligations - but I would still be very interested what they're doing. Perhaps one of our technican members like Steve will have more information.

Regardless of new or remanned, the replacement engine only is covered for 12 mo/12k or the balance of the 70k or 100k extended warranty.

Examince the potential of purchasing a Nissan extended warranty to see if it can get you more months vs the 12 you get with a repair.
