Picked up an engine stand tonight and popped out all the pistons. Found a cylinder 3 rod knock.Havn't taken the crank out yet so not sure how those bearings look yet. I think they will be okay though.

I hope I can get away with just repolishing the crank and new main and rod bearings

Also I need to know if I can reuse these main and rod bolts/nuts or if they need to be replaced

Rod knock definitly sucks. Be sure to either hot tank or just clean very well the oil passages in the block and head. I know of a couple guys that just rebuilt the bottom end with parts but never cleaned the oil passages and had rod knock again 3 months down the line. I would change all the bearings to be on the safe side.

damn, yeah I def want to hot tank the block and head. I found a lot of the shavings, but I'm sure theres probably still some in there

And I am thinking about upgrading the rods, pistons, and bearings, and a metal headgasket just because it's winter so I have about 4 months to do it.

took the crank out and none of the main bearings looked too bad just some minor wear.

I hope my crank is still useable though. Heres some of the scoring on the rod journal with the knock.

Good that you found the prob. How long did it take you to tear it down. Ima be tackling it pretty soon as well

Not long 2 days maybe, but the first day it was sitting on the ground. So much nicer once I got it up on the stand
