It's been a while since I've posted on this forum, I do visit it very often but have not posted in a while.Ok here's the deal with my Q, every morning when I go out and heat up the truck (40 deg.) my engine belt is wanting to start squealing. My belt was replaced not to long ago and I've already had it tightened twice, does this mean I need to tighten it again? I also noticed it only does this when it's chilly outside, when it's warm, it will not do this.
2nd. In the mornings when my truck has heated up and I leave my driveway and drive off but hit the brakes to a STOP sign my rear brakes will screech very badly, I've had my mechanic check my rear drums and have been told they are fine but the screech sound is very loud, it will only do this once when I drive off for the 1st time, once my truck has hit the brakes a couple of times it will not make a sound, and if it does its not crazy loud.
3rd. I've brought this up a couple of times but have not received a definite answer on it. I was once driving in downtown DC and recall that I hit a pothole which caused my steering wheel to snap, I didn't hear anything but felt like if something snapped on the steering wheel rod. I recall having a mechanic check on this and told me they were the bushings?? Are there different types of bushings?? I am confused. I recall the mechanic checking the steering rod in the engine and it was loose. Another friend of mine has a pathy, same year, and his steering rod in the engine was tight and did not move at all. I'm thinking something broke. I've had this problem for quite some time.
I'm also in the market on replacing my shocks and struts and have been told that the KYB's are the best for our trucks, in the case I cannot get the KYB's what would be the 2nd best for our trucks? I would like to avoid Monroe at all costs!! I've experienced these and boy do I have a lot of bad things to say about them.
All thoughts are welcomed!!
