I've already installed my SR20 into my Datsun 510 and I CANNOT get the bolt out that lets you know when your transmission is filled up with fluid. Some people tell me that you put a little less than 2 quarts and someone told me you put 3 quarts. And I know everyone says to use redline stuff, but I used valvoline 75w90 synthetic gear oil, is that bad or what? And I've already put 2 quarts in the transmission, I haven't driven it yet though. So how much do you put in it?

If it has brass syncros. like the ka24de transmission MAKE SURE the fluid is GL-4 and not GL-5. GL-5 will destroy your syncros. I think it hold 2 1/2 quarts that is how much mine holds. I use Penzoil 75w90 with syncromesh it works great.

i used some 75-90 s*** from carquest. drove on it for about 6 or 7 months did at least 5 drift events never had a problem.

Yes, get GL-4 though and i'm not sure on the amount of fluid.

f*** it, I'm gonna get some redline s***. Would it hurt the transmission if I drove the car like I mile? I can't stand not to drive it!! I just got my swap down and I haven't driven it.

S14 SR FSM calls for 2.4 liters or 4.25 imperial pints (British units are a bit more than US pints. 4.25 imperial pints = ~5.1 US pints) These FSM measurements are equivalent to 2.53-2.55 US QUARTS respectively. FSM states GL-4 for transmission and GL-5 for differential bc of the aforementioned brass synchros.

I used redline. I put what the FSM asked for and I have yet to have an issue with my car. I drove it for about 7 months straight and never gave me problems.
