Hey guys, I hate to admit this but I'm the new guy around here; but as such I don't want to just introduce myself and leave it at that.

So, what I am currently looking for is a website that offers a scale model of an S13 240SX, preferably a Zenki, but a Chuki model would work if a Zenki can't be located.

Anyway, hope we can track down one of these models, I have some body styling ideas I would like to play with on a scale model before I go destroying a real car.

Thanks NICO! Glad I could join your community!

Check if AutoArt has a model of it. They make some nice stuff.

Welcome!

Hey, Checked out Auto Art, and they do make some very nice stuff, but I didn't find any 240SX (or 180SX) models.

THanks for the welcome!

Did you try Ebay.com? They sell Model Nissan Presidents all the time.

Thanks for the link...

...By the way...I really hope you mean "where the f***" is Loomis by your comment "wtf is Loomis"...not "what the f***" is Loomis...

Loomis is a town...

EDIT: Went to Tamiya America and their website lists the 180SX model as being discontinued... but...the fact that it was offered at one time gives some hope that one could still be found.

W = who, what, where, when, or why ---kinda just gotta assume for yourself, you were right "WHERE THE f*** IS LOOMIS?"

and if you search for that model name you will find it, ive seen it on numerous sites.... good idea for trying out crazy styling ideas --you should see my silvia coupe model.

I've bought a lot of kits from Hobby Link Japan. They have everything.

I hope that helps.

Nice model work there, is that Seafoam Green? Well, in any case, I found out that Fujimi also makes/made a Zenki S13 and I found some on eBay for $25+S&H, any reason why I should go tamiya over Fujimi (or vice-versa)?

Tamiya's models have a lot of good detail and are of good quality.

I haven't heard much of Fujimi though.

Tamiya makes the best plastic kits out there. Fitment and quality is the best.

As far as car kits; Tamiya, Fujimi, Aoshima is the order I'd rank them.

Does anyone know if Tamiya models typically feature a hinged hood so you can see the engine?

EDIT: I think I just answered my own question...looks like this model has a fixed closed hood...

I guess ultimately what I am looking for is an assembly required plastic model kit with an engine bay and hinged hood (like that silvia model previously posted) but in the S13 Zenki style of body. Though I suppose I may now be looking for a model kit that doesn't exist...so far the model kits I have seen feature fixed hoods and no engine.

Do forget to check http://www.rinkya.com

Btw I love Tamiya. I still have some of my old Tamiya stuff, never could get rid of it.

Nice websites, thanks for the links.

It really looks like the Tamiya 180SX's have fixed hoods...but, I wonder if I could get the Silvia S13 kit (which appears to have a hinged hood) and modify the 180SX hood to accept the hinges...essentially like a front clip swap for a real car...

Might be interesting, worth looking into I think.

heh...what is stopping you?

And yes S133P3R, it does sound like a PITA, but seems like the only way I will be able to get what I want...unless I try to track down a Diecast model, but then I am limited in what I can do to customize the model in terms of body and so forth. But then again, it might be fun to try this sort of thing with a model and see how it comes out...

I found this model from the website that twofortyesecks suggested, that wasn't in that list. It's out of stock, but if you can track one down, it seems to be pretty much exactly what you are looking for.

Haha now I have a full sized car (my S13) parked in front of the work bench where I would normally work on plastic models. And I'm too lazy to set everything up for painting the model.

Heh, well, I actually like the 'piggy' front end more then the Silvia front end (and the flaming begins...). But ultimately what matters is what I am trying to fit in there and I would guess that the Silvia S13 has the same size engine bay as the 240 so in the end it doesn't really matter except for looks.

EDIT: I was also really hoping for a fastback style model, and the models of the Silvia's I have seen are coupes.

That is pretty sweet.

Here's one more attempt to help. Piggy. Fastback. Opening hood. Only thing would be tracking one down, as they are out of stock. http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS07573

^^^^^ sick find for S13 owners. Does anyone know if anyone made Pathfinder/Nissan Terrano models?
