Got a 91 240sx that I'm about to do a manual swap with. I'm still looking for a decent transmission to drop it on, but I'm curious to know what if any other year transmissions would work for it other than a 91 and if they were other transmissions from other models that anyone has experimented with putting on a 240sx.

All manual shift 240sx's came with FS5W71C 5-speed transmissions. The older 300zx and D21 hardbody's had FS5R30A 5-speeds, which I believe use the same bellhousing pattern.

Later (90-97) D21's also used FS5W71C's albiet with lower gear ratios than the 240sx models, especially the 4wd.

This is by no means all the information involved with these transmissions, and I believe they were used in many vehicles other than what I've mentioned.

you can use a manual transmission from 89 all the way up to 96 I know for a fact because I've done it, the S 14 transmissions do have another sensor on top of the transmission you to don't use them
