Hi there,

I am new to this forum, but have had great experiences at other forums. I just purchased my wife a 2006 QX56 and it has a satellite setting on the radio, but when we try to tune to the satellite area to get the ser# to register with Sirius it just searches with no results. When I brought it to the dealer to get some warranty work done, I asked about this and was told a new module needed to be ordered. Two weeks later I received a call and was told my vehicle was not set up for satellite and it would cost me $650 to do so. How can I tell if they are trying to take advantage of me to save the $650 in warranty repairs?? My warranty runs out in 3 more weeks!! Help please.

Thanks,

ED

First off, welcome to NICOclub! Glad to have you here as a new member!

I don't believe the Satellite Radio was standard on the '06 QX56. If you are not getting a serial number chances are there is no tuner installed in your vehicle. Good news though, your vehicle is Pre-wired and already has the antenna lead installed, this will save you a lot of time and a little bit of money. If you want to make sure you don't have a tuner, there is an area underneath the driver's side dash just above the gas pedals where the pre-wire is located (and tuner if installed). The antenna lead is by the rear hatch of the vehicle, under the headliner, on the driver's side.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions!

Oh, you can purchase a tuner and the actual antenna at http://www.courtesyparts.com I think you can get everything you need for around $400 if you are going to do the install yourself. That is what I did when I bought my '04 QX56 (previous vehicle).
