I notice my turbo had an exhaust leak after a week of the sr swap so I need to remove the whole thing because I can't get to some bolts. I was reading about the whole exhaust manifold turbo removal and it state you should drain the oil and coolant. If I don't drain my fluid will it leak a lot from the turbo where the lines connect??

I never drain mine. I top the water and oil off after I get the turbo back on. I have done mine twice and never had any problems. Its such pita that the last time I tacked the nuts to the stud.

draining the oil and coolant prob wont do anything as it's still going to be in the engine and lines. I just did this a coupe weeks ago and yeah it will spill out so be ready to throw some kitty litter or sand or something on the floor, I just zip tied the lines up and out of the way so they wouldnt leak (stainless steel lines)

Great. I would remove the whole thing from the exhaust manifold to the turbo elbow and the whole piece should come out right? It wouldn't be smart to reuse the gasket right?

Yes and yes, replace gaskets with new ones.

You will love yourself if you get some stainless steel lines for your turbo. Makes life much easier and no worries about the lines getting kinked when your working. Ask people who have them...

i love my stainless lines. did my turbo one time with the stockers and the next time that bish came off it got braided lines. The one that goes behind the block is a pita in the car thought.

I did this a few weeks back and while i was there upgraded to a ss mani. Next time i do this (to swap turbos) i will not w/o ss lines, stock lines are such a PAIN...No point imo to drain the collant as its going to leak regardless....And yes use NEW gaskets good luck

also since you have the turbo out, inspect the locking plates for the turbo to manifold bolts. those are good to do so the nuts dont loosen up and cause the gasket to blow prematurely

Locking plates FTW Great advice, nice to see 240sxmotoring stepping in with solid advice.
