miguel cotto vs. manny pacquiao.

i have never paid for hbo ppv before but i'm going to drop the coin this time around. i need to be able to watch this fight without the distractions associated with a party or a bar full of screaming people. hopefully i can dvr this thing so i can watch my own slo-mo playbacks at a later time and date for my own personal analysis.

that being said, i really don't know who i think will win or who i want to win. i am a big fan of both fighters. cotto is a monster and has overcome many obstacles only to emerge from a fight victorious. pacquiao is looking to break the record and add a 7th belt in a 7th completely different weight class, that's unbelievable. plus he beat the snot out of de la hoya, i always hated him.

now i've been loosely following this fight since it's been announced. cotto began training at least a week before pacquiao. he's up at 4am doing his routines and working on his defense which has always been a cause for concern. pacquiao, on the other hand, has been caught out at 2am singing karaoke, had some tax issues so he had to relocate his training back to the philippines where his trainer is complaining that he's too distracted, and i've read the he's being hit a lot by his sparring partners. is he taking this fight too loosely? at this point that's the way it sounds and if anyone has watched a cotto fight, you know he's not necessarily one you should sleep on.

i'm interested to hear what some of you guys are anticipating next saturday.

that's what i said at the very beginning, but his attitude towards this fight is causing me to think it may go the other way.

Why? Style match up? Speed? the catch weight? Any particular analysis?

I think that it's going to be a good fight - Cotto is a very good fundamental boxer. Pacquiao can be wild and open to counter punches. I think that Cotto has the discipline to cut off the ring and land some good counter punches and is going to hit much harder - even at a catch weight - than anyone Pacquiao has fought before.

I don't know that Cotto's chin is as suspect as has been claimed - Margarito used hardened wraps in the fight in which he beat down Cotto.

As for Pacquiao, he's a great fighter, and I respect the hell out of him going up in weight to find a challenge. I just think that you can only do that so many times before run against someone who is as good or nearly as good and fighting closer to their natural fight weight.

Also, keep and eye out for the Glen Johnson and Chad Dawson fight tomorrow night.

Well MP won like I thought he would, but I didn't expect him to do it in that fashion.

UFC 105...I thought Vera won so I call BS again...They just want Lesnar to officially knock Couture into retirement.
