Heard in the Spanish news that it was one of their own who shot everyone and then committed suicide.

That base is where you get a physical before being shipped out, maybe they didn't want to go.

Somebody was playing to much Counter-Strike. But that really sucks, I wonder why the army itself did not take him out?

Something that I've been wondering myself. It's a military base, someone there had to have had a firearm. Why wasn't he taken out?

that was actually just answered... they aren't allowed to carry loaded firearms except on the range or for training exercises... so no one was loaded to take him out

Terrible tragedy my Dad and Grandfather served in the Army respectfully....so I definitely support our troops. Kinda of a weird feeling this happened at the place I was born, Bless their HEARTS.

Ok... this is more really bad news to add onto an extremely bad situation...

Of the several shooter who attacked Ft. Hood, the one who was killed on scene is reported to have shooted "Allahu Ackbar!" just before he opened fire.

Jihad hits home again? Allahu Ackbar means 'Allah is great'...

I swear, sometimes I feel like there are Homunculus running the world and all this strife and these wars are started so they can make Philosopher Stones. Amestris vs Ishbal...

The timing of this attack was so precipitous. The President was going to make a decision about a war strategy soon. With all the delays in the announcement, I would bet that he was even considering ending the Afgan war, which has devolved into a Civil War/conflict with unclear objectives. But now, I fear that this attack will force his hand to send more troops when he clearly (and rightfully so) doesn't want to.

Reminds me of a line from The Godfather where Michael Corleone says something along the lines "Soldiers are paid to fight, rebels aren't".

My prayers and condolences to the families of the dead and injured. Regardless of whether they were soldiers and do risk their lives knowingly, this was not a battelfield situation.

Not a Good Thing™ to happen ... and that is a gross understatement.

So apparently the guy was cross-examined by several military officers because he was Muslim, and he was treated very poorly. Apparently they have done it several times...

I guess this guy just cracked! More of the usual it seems.

"Allegedly" has to be used until proof is shown in a court of law.
