Anyone having lagging issues with the Rogue forum page loading. I can log in ok and the pages will load, then it stalls for 15-20 seconds- waiting on all the flashing/ and moving sections, then it loads and no other problems until I click on something and the page has to load again, same scenario. I'm on 54 Mbps connection.

Thanks for any help/ advice

Ray

Hi Ray... I don't think its on your end. I have a highspeed connection to my home office. (fiber to curb, cable to house) Around noon yesterday all internet activity was lightning fast until I accessed Nicoclub. I was experiencing the same stalling - page freezing - page loads locked up for 10 to 15 seconds then finished loading. Happened with almost every refresh. Later in the day I drove into the corporate office (with a T1 connection). Same thing. No improvement. Must be a site problem. (Although this evening it seems to be a little better)

Same problem for the last 3 or 4 days, this site only. I log in, the page starts to load, then stops

Yes, some of our moderators have noticed this as well. It may have something to do with the ads, etc.

I will report back if we find anything.

Oh its real bad on my 2002 laptop Pentium IV. I attributed it to all the advertisements, animated javascript, pictures or whatta-ma-jigs.

But on my Core-2 Duo quad laptop. Site handles fine.

I have a Download up to 15 Mbps / Upload up to 5 Mbps.

Speedeasy test:

Presently on my wireless- 21976 kbps download 16998 kbps upload

Well... an ad blocker would save you a little time as it prevents the ad graphics from loading. However I do not run an ad blocker and have been perusing nicoclub forums for over a year. The site lagging problems only started happening recently which indicates its not necessarily an issue related to the loading of ads. (and the fact that other web sites with tons of ads load just fine). The lagging problem is related to this specific site. I would think the corporation behind Nicoclub.com would have their IT staff working overtime to resolve the issue. Why? Because "advertising" is the revenue stream behind any successful website. If advertisers don't pay for banners on a web site then the money to pay for the site, and site overhead, has to come from someplace else. NET: If all nicoclub members and subscribers start running ad blockers just to improve the sites performance then the advertisers would be better served pulling their ads and advertising on another website. Lets hope that doesn't happen.

That said... if you still want to try running an ad blocker check these out: This first one for Windows is pretty cool. It lets you block all forms of advertising. I also included one for MAC users which is also pretty effective but I haven;t had much time to test it myself.
