I hope everyone is doing just fine tonight. I have a few quick questions. I know someone who has 10 days to get rid of his car. He lives in NYC and cant drive nor register his car due to a few grand in outstanding tickets.

If you live in NYC youll understand LOL.

I live in ct well the car has sat in storage for 2 years not properly put away.

The brake rotors are rusted to the pads completly as is the Parking brake its completly rusted solid.

The strut shaft is pretty rusted over as well.

The battery is completly dead.

The coolant and the brake fluid and oil are all bad now from sitting so long.

Brake fluid and oil are actually cloudy from water condensing in it.

Tires are cracked and dry rotted out from sitting in the same spot unmoved for 2 years.

Its a 2004 SER with 30,000 miles on it.

The last straw is that the front bumper is messed up

You think 4000-4500 would be a fair amount to offer?

In perfect condition its worth 7-8 grand but all new brakes all they way around with suspension, tires, battery, fluid swap.

Thats 2500 bucks worth of work right there. If you paid a mechanic to do it.

I know i could fix it myself in a day for around a grand.

do you think 4000 is enough to offer or too low ball. I dont want to offend him.

You think its even worth 4 grand? I am just taking the retail price of the car and subtracting the cost of paying a dealer to fix it.

The rotors are so toasted i cant even push it out of the driveway i have to replace the brakes right there or tow it

don't take the dealer cost... take the private party cost and then subtract... i'd assume its not worth 4G

Don't worry about offending him, worry about you paying $4000 for a parts car.

Just my man but I would hate to see you get ripped off. Offer him $500, take it or leave it.

I'd say it's in poor condition, worth maybe $3K

Are you guys sniffing glue?

It's worth $500.

Read carefully, and start adding up parts (and labor) to rehab this POS.

Remember it's in CT, so it's rusted as hell.

You guys are either gullible (or not reading between the lines).

These two statements are mutually exclusive... You can replace an entire engine and braking system that's full of rust in a day?

You're hired.

Glue aside, we really don't know how rusted the inside is from bad coolant or if the underside is rusted badly...

I also didn't think that it hasn't been started at all, yeesh. The motor is probably locked up, yeah.

I dunno, I guess I was thinking of the best possible scenario.

You can find that car in good condition on CL or ebay for $4K all day long.

In AZ.

With no rust.

Call the seller and tell him he's a moron, and he needs to pay his parking tickets.

That thing isn't even worth a grand. If he says otherwise, he's an idiot.

Kind of like this guy. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/....html

Thank you! Some of the posts were seriously worrying.

This is a QR25 powered car that has been abused. He should be paying YOU to take it off his hands.

The car is not worth the effort or money it'll take to make it driveable. Take your $4k and buy something that isn't falling apart.

welcome to nico fellow meridian, meridenite, dude who lives in meriden. i'd pass on that car. even if you change the brakes on the spot and get it to run, would you really trust it enough to make it back to ct? a tow is going to cost a small fortune as you'd need a flatbed considering the condition of the tires. keep looking imho.
