CA water outlet broken. Where can I find one?!

My water outlet broke on my CA and I know the CA18DE one won't fit. Are their any interchangeable ones? Also the outlet is aluminum right? I was going to try to weld it but I would rather find one in one peice.

I'll pull my ca18et one out of storage and compare.....should have time tonight.
I'm pretty sure when I put my ca18det together, I used a t-stat gasket for a s12 ca18et

cool. I know the ca20e won't work. It's a 2 bolt outlet.

I think the CA18ET works as well. I broke mine too and I think the one I got to replace it was from an ET. That was a LONG time ago, so I'm not 100% sure.

Here's the ca18et outlet.....looks the same. Sorry for the crappy pic......the housing is still attached to the intake mani deep in a parts bin.

Like I said..I'm pretty sure I used a ca18et gasket on my ca-det when I put my engine together a few years back...
Here is the gasket...

Check over on club-s12.org Maybe someone has a spare

the ca18de from a fwd will bolt in just fine, it will just be facing the other direction.

Do you think that if I drilled and tapped a hole into this outlet it would break? I'm asking this because I wanted to put a temperature sensor for my electric fans right after the thermostat to get the most accurate readings. I believe the sensor is made from brass or copper mabe even steel, would it affect the aluminum?

if you drill the hole carefully it might not crack. i would not put the sensor there, however becuase the reading will not be accurate. remember that the sensor needs to be submerged in coolant the whole time for the most accurate reading. if you drill it in the housing it will only see coolant when the t stat is open.

He said it bolts up, it just faces the wrong way, and he's right too.

I take it the CA18ET outlet works?

David, he's right. It needs to be on the other side of the thermostat where the other 2 sensor are.

Nope. They are different. the flange and even the size of the outlet.

Ok, I have a 180 degree thermostat and my fan controller is adjustable from 170-210 degrees. What would be the most ideal temperature to have the fans turn on?

At what temperature does the oem clutch fan turn on?

Right now I have the fan temp sensor after the t-stat because I figure they don't need to come on until coolant begins flowing into the radiator. I figure It's not like the coolant temp sensor that's used for engine fuel control. Maybe I am wrong.

Ideally I would like to drill & tap the intake manifold but I do not want to take that route yet so I might just settle for a "in radiator probe style" like this one.

Sorry for thread jackin headup240!

You'd be better off getting a sensor that is in the coolant path vs the probe style that poke through the rad fins. The sensors that are in the coolant path are far more accurate than the probe kind.
I have a tee fitting that is placed in the top rad hose with a screw-in sensor. Works like a champ....5 years running.
The fan controller and sensor are by Centech Wire, and is fully adjustable....and the controller mounts under the dash or wherever....so you can adjust on the fly as needed.

Here is mine.....

this is on my old ca18et....but i transfered it all to my ca18det when it went in...

I was just showing z210 and float that it does not bolt up which ever way you put it. Yes it is the fwd ca18de one. I haven't tried the et yet. But my ca18det one is coming in tommorow so im not worried about it.

The CA18ET should work. The CA18DE doesn't work.

If I'm not mistaken, that engine wasn't sold in the US. Do you know of a USDM replacement?

Thanks,

Darian

If you're referring to the ca18et, it WAS sold in the U.S. '84-'86 200sx

if it's made out of steel...you might want to consider getting the inside powder coated..otherwise it will rust over time

I thought about that, but I was afraid of chunks breaking loose. I'll just keep an eye on it and if I need another one I can make it again very cheaply.

I have a piece of pipe fabbed up with my fan controller sensor screwed into, and placed "inline" in my upper rad hose.....I left it just bare metal for about a month, then pulled it to check for rust....and within that time had already started getting a film of rust on the inside. I had it powder coated, and it's been rust free ever since, and the powder coating on the inside looks as good as it did when I installed it.....about 6 years ago.
If nothing else maybe add some Red Line Water Wetter or something that helps protect against the elements
