  Replacing the Serpentine Belt on 2007+ G35 / G37

Tools needed

Floor Jack
Wood Blocks or Jack Stands
Creeper (optional)
10mm ¼ drive socket
¼ drive wrench
10mm nut driver (optional)
½ drive socket or slim breaker bar
magnetic dish to hold bolts (optional)

Part number 11720-JK20A Belt-Fan

STEP #1

Remove the two 10mm bolts holding the radiator overflow tank to the upper fan shroud

The overflow tank can be swung out of the way without disconnecting anything

STEP #2

Remove the two 10mm bolts holding the electric fans to the shroud

STEP #3

Jack up the car and support it with either jack stands or wood blocks (note my 255/50/17 rear tires)

STEP #4

On the creeper slide under the car with the ½ drive wrench or breaker bar.
Press upwards on the bottom of the electric fan assembly while simultaneously sliding the wrench into the notch in the bottom of the pulley/tensioner.

Step # 5

Remove the belt by pulling the wrench/breaker bar toward the drivers side of the car. Pay attention to how the belt is ran, a diagram is in the owners manual. Infiniti recommends this belt is replaced every 30,000 miles and with good reason. My belt had about 36,000 miles on it and one of the ribs was 95% missing. The outer edges of the belt had spots where the belt had lost chunks. If your engine sees the 8,000 rpm fuel cutoff as often as mine you should replace it every 30,000 miles.

Step # 6

Install the new belt by pulling the wrench toward the drivers side of the car and slipping the belt over the crank pulley.

Step #7

Take the car off the jackstands/wood blocks and jack

Step #8

Reinstall the 10mm bolts that hold the fans to the radiator shroud

Step #9

Reinstall the 10mm bolts that hold the overflow tank to the radiator shroud

Step #10

After triple checking the belt routing start the car. Watch the belt to make sure all the accessories are turning.
