19 inch tires vs 18 inch

I have an 06 M35x with the 245/40-19 inch tires which handle well but ride very rough. Anybody know if changing to the 245/45-18's will make a significant difference. The depth of the 18 is 4.34 inches vs 3.85 for the 19.

Welcome to NICO.

Yes, the extra aspect ratio will smooth the ride out some more, but it also depends on the tires you put on the car - some of them will have more road noise than others.

AFAIK, the 245/45-18 is the standard size tire (and also the standard wheel size) for the X models. Someone must have replaced the wheels on your car, I guess.

Are your current 19" wheels also the Infiniti Sport OEM wheels? If so, then finding somebody with the 18" Infiniti OEM wheels to trade with is a bit easier!

Trust me when I tell you the almost limitless assortment of tires you have to chose from will be huge and way cheaper. The problem with 19's is they are expensive and limited.

Grab some 245/45/18 Falken 912's and life will be smooth, inexpensive, AND sporty in terms of driving prowess. Grab some Michelin Primacy's and life will be smoother than you could have imagined.

The combination of more sidewall and GREAT tires will have you wondering why you didn't feel the bump in the road. I have driven on the Falken's and I'm telling you those things are awesome!!!

Mods: Tein lowering springs. 19 X 9.5" Axis EXE Konkaves Wheels. 255/40 Hankook V12's on all 4 corners. 2 Degree timing advance. 35% Tint. 12" Subwoofer with aftermarket Infiniti front door speakers and tweeters.

I have an 07 m35x with brand new 18"alloy factory rims with brand new tires. I am looking for the sport 19" alloy rims (only if they are in excellent condition). Would be willing to trade. The ride is very smooth with the 18" rims but I'm looking for a sportier look with the 19"s.

My 19's are in great condition. Perhaps we could exchange pics via email. My address is ray.spangler@sympatico.ca. Could you send a pic of you 18's.

The 19-inch wheels are awesome but you have to deal with the harsh ride. Also, due to low profile tires, the wheels can can be damaged/scratched easily ($937 each and repair cost @ $150 or more)

if anyone ever needs some 19's i found a site that has them for 300.

http://www.finishlinewheels.co...87U78/

I havent purchased from them myself but i can agree to the 19's getting damaged easily. I have a rim messed up by a pothole and to repair will be 150 + balancing, it got pretty messed up. Ne way hope the link is helpful to anyone in need of a new rim(s).
