So I'm doing my brakes and the Wearever Gold pads I got don't fit the calipers because they are too long. Strangely the same pads for the non-ABS car seem to fit fine. I have ABS.

Has anyone else run across this? Is the manufacturer spec-ing the wrong pads or did the previous (dumbs***) owner of my car put non-abs calipers on it? What differences are there between the two different calipers (abs and non-abs for a 96 s14)?

Talked to a guy at Courtesy Parts, he said there's only one brake pad that fits 96's or at least SE's. Funny thing is though their site lists two part #'s....

Whatever, it appears the Wearever Gold and Wagner Ceramic that advance auto parts specs for a 96 s14 se do not fit it, and you for some dumb a** reason have to specify that you don't have abs when you actually do.

Also their site is jacked up badly. I enter my car as a 96 nissan 240sx se, and press the brakes link in their "Top 10 Parts." The search returns Nada.

UM HELLO?!

same thing happened to me kinda, i bought ebc green stuff pads from one of their sponsored dealers, wrong size. so i went to my buddy at advance auto and he ordered me hawks...once again i got em and they were the wrong ones. so i checked both ebc and hawks websites and other dealers and they all had the same part numbers for the parts. so finally i decided to order the abs pads even though i dont have abs, because the pads i kept getting were all too small andi figured abs ones are a bit bigger. imagine that, turned out the calipers i have are for abs and they're bigger, so i needed the bigger pads to go with it. although i dont have abs. weird s***. but im happy since although not by much, they are bigger than non-abs ones therefore more stopping power, right? so yeah, 3 tries and i finally have my brakes done. abs calipers and pads on a non-abs car.

OMG. After all the hassle, I found an unused set of front brake pads in the garage that I bought 2 years ago before I pulled/rebuilt the motor and forgot about. I guess I have them for when I need them in another 2 years...

ABS/NON-ABS isnt an option for me in my FAST catalog. For 94-96, there is one set of front pads. There is 3 part #'s that supercede to two for s14's and they specify the pads by year, not by option. The only way they would be wrong is if you asked for the wrong year. That is at least the way Nissan lists them. After punching in the part #'s. There are only two different sets of pads for all s14's. They are not specified by anything but by the pro date. ABS/non ABS doesnt matter.

I'm very proud of you, thats a completely different story. On verts it matters whether or not it has ABS. Unfortunately my post had nothing to do with you and shouldnt have been considered as you have a vert and not an S14. Thanks for clearing that up for me sir, couldnt figure out that you had a vert by your vehicle info and your name...BTW, the OP's original question and your issue have nothing to do with eachother... Completely different. I'm sure the OP is happy to see that you have jacked his thread...

BTW, Verts are a different breed of 240sx, not an S13 not an S14, just a convertable. Because you car by your pro date is a 94 (after 6/93) and therefore should be an S14 but it is considered s13 because of the body style.

um how did i thread jack? i didnt ask any questions or anything that may consider jacking it. all i was doin was relating my situation to his,he asked if anyone has had similar issues with brakes so i mentioned the issue i had. i was comparing also to how advance auto sucks at matching part #'s. then later on i was just sayin when mine was built since you said something about 6/94 and up. why do you care so much as to have so much attitude in your post? sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning... and btw it doesnt matter whether or not the vert has abs. obviously you didnt even read what i had wrote. all verts have abs brakes, even if you dont have abs. i later found out they did this because of the few hundred extra lbs you have as a convertible. so get your facts straight before you wanna start bein a d!ck

Its Advance Auto and their part matching that is the problem. They list multiple pads for 96's, even as we've all confirmed, there is only one set of pads for the 96 s14.

At least they're cheap...
