  Sub Box size??

Does anyone know the cubic feet of the sub woofer enclosure behind my seat: 2007 Nissan 350Z Grand Touring. I would like to put a higher performance woofer back there, I have the Bose system now.

you can take out the sab and fill the space with packing peanuts, then put thos peanuts into a 1 foot cubed box and determine what volue of peanuts it help, might not be precise but should get you close

also you can air ont he side of smaller volume than you think then add blocks of wood to reduce the free air volume and tune to specific frequency

i used to be big in car audio

Stock subwoofer for a 2007 350Z info stuff i found:

10" woofer
8.025" mounting depth
0.904" mounting heighth
unknown air space

I would go with something that has a variety of air space. Something with an operating range of 1-2 cubic feet should work. You will want an aftermarket amplifier as well tho. I recommend techronics.com for your supplies (speakers, subs, amps, etc.). They have great deals on over stock and old model stuff, all brand new but might be from like 3 years ago.... I have had great service with them and you can negotiate pricing and free shipping if you contact them.

As mentioned, pull the sub, fill with packing peanuts, then dump in a 5 gallon bucket. I say 5 gallon bucket because anyone that washes their own car has one. There are 7.5 gallons in a cubic foot, so if it fills the bucket, then you have a 2/3 cubic foot enclosure.

What size sub does it use? 8? 10? I highly doubt that the factory puts a 1-2cubic foot box in a car, because most would consider that big and obtrusive.

A few minutes on Google brought up this website.

Looks like they make custom enclosures with .85ft of space. The bose may be that big, it may not. Either way, look for a sub that works in less than 1ft of space, likely something with a fairly low Qts of say .28-.20.

The space that you have to work with is 0.75 cubic feet.

I'm actually looking to do something similar to you.

You probably should get shallow mount subwoofers to get the most out of the small space. Pioneer Premier TS-SW1001S4 subs would fit perfectly.

I suggest you make a box for your aftermarket sub. (you could probably pick up some medium density fiberboard from Lowes and make it yourself)

You're going to need an aftermarket amp. (JL Audio HD750/1) And also a line output converter; (AudioControl LC6i)

I got the box space specs by doing the following:
1. Rockfordfosgate.com
2. Highlight Support
3. Click on Woofer Box Wizard
4. Fill in the blanks.

GL with your project!

Well I am putting a
Rockford Power 1000 Amp
2 Alpine SPX Pro 6.5 Component Front
2 Alpine SPX Pro 6.5 Coax Rear
Morel SPL Ultimo 10' Sub in that space behind seat. I did find out it is a perfect fit and the right sealed volume. .75 to .85 cu ft
Thanks fellows for the input

This is what I have in my Nissan. I replaced the Stock Radio as that is a piece of crap. listed below is what I hive in my 350z and it sounds great!

-Pioneer radio DEH-P5100UB
- 2, 6' Pioneer speakers for the back speakers
- A 10' Kicker Sub with a 500 amp placed under the passenger seat.

I dont know what the make is on the amp. But will find it.

This is my baby.

Mods: Sound system w/sub
