I have wanted to hack the nav so that my wife could use the gps while I am driving. It has been long enough that I dont want to hear anymore, "but you said you were gonna do it"/.... arggh!!

anyways, I have seen threads that shows how this is dont on M/Q series of Infiniti but nowhere to be found for a 2005 QX56.

Anyone has a link for it or has done it and could point me in the right direction.

Btw, kptechnologies has a device but according to KP, device is not tested on a 2005 QX56.

Thanks!!

Do you know if it was tested on the Armada? I thought it worked on the QX56, be sure to contact them, for the price, it is worth a shot.

The KP technology device only needs to be hooked up with one wire to the board behind the control stick. Namely, the pin on the board that gets grounded when you press the enter button. I'd suspect the board is probably the same as other QX56's using the same dash layout. Wouldn't make much sense to change the hardware unless they are changing layout. But even still, its still likely to be a signal that gets grounded when the button is pushed so all you need to do is find the pin that gets grounded when you press enter. Then solder the signal wire to that pin.

As for the ability to program while driving, you merely need to wire in a spdt relay (you can use your own or buy the kit with it included) to the speed signal wire.

I have this in my Titan. Works great. Though, my intent in buying it was to eliminate the legal disclaimer screen. The programming while driving was simply a bonus. Though I did order it with the relay and beeping device. I highly recommend the beeping option as I can barely hear the relay when it clicks over.
