Wow... This might be the most pimp suspension mod I've seen in a while. I must know more...

But... what does it do? I don't get it. How does it control ride height and dampening from there?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was something those auto-x/road course guys had been keeping secret from the rest of us... lol

I remember somebody running this sort of thing in his build (s13 hatch). It was either tube framed or had a nice cage in it--probably the latter. Basically reloacted the shocks to how the track cat people run it, but they were the standard rear s13 coilovers, unlike the custom ones the op posted.

Not sure if the articulation would be as good running them like that, but a major benefit was having extremely easy access to the shocks for service/adjustment.

there's a bar that runs down to the knuckle that is adjustable from what i'd assume. if this would be able to fit in a coupe, i'd probably go ahead and get this for sure.

great idea though..i'd just like to see it in action

Interesting, I wonder what kind of motion ratio that rocker arm is using and the spring rates those bike coilovers use.

Bike shocks are cheap on ebay and available in a multitude of spring rates and valving options. I think the busa shocks are the highest at 700kg/mm. Depending on the motion ratio of that rocker, it may be able to attain a fully adjustable rear suspension setup on the cheap (including ride height via a couple spherical rod ends and a swedged forward and reverse threaded tube).

Not only that, but bike shock springs are cheap as well. They could also be adjusted without getting under the car to fiddle with crap.

Not to mention the baller status.

I think I might just engineer something like this into my brother's car.

I have a revo too. Idk if bike shocks would be stiff enouph, if it works like the revo does.I would love to have it, but I think I would try and watch it too much. Try to corner hard and watch it compress, then smack a curb.

^^^ Lol... How about you let someone drive your car so you can watch it compress? Or drive it and let someone film it compressing?

But seriously, We need to get the makers of this product on Nico to talk about this. We need testimonials and maybe a group buy. This thing looks phuckin sick...

Instead of popping my hood at the meets, I'd be popping trunk..

Since you seem to be familiar with this setup, can you discuss the benefits of such a system in comparison to a conventional coilover system?

Because I was thinking about this last night... this system is only for your rear suspension. You still gotta buy a setup for the front. At this price, your could buy a whole set of entry level coils and be done with it...

What are the pros and cons of a system like this?

From what i can gather from the pictures, the ratio for the setup is 2:1. Example: the cantilever rod moves 2 inches, the suspension will compress 1 inch ( i may be backwards on this. The disadvantage is the extra weight added to do this. Advantages would be: More room to run wider wheels/tires because there is only a rod there instead of the coilovers. I would think that this setup would also act as a strut bar leaving you with less chassis flex. Would be easier to change ride heights with different length pushrods instead of adjusting collars on the shock itself.

Very cool concept, and I'm sure it works just fine... but I wouldn't buy it unless I saw a legitimate test against competitively priced suspension. I await such a test.

well for one on our cars it really makes no sence. dont get me wrong it is functional and a decient setup. but in my mind makes little diffrence you still adjust the ride height at the coilovers. there is the benefit of not having to take of the tire to adjust them but hey in my mind thats just lazy. the cantilever set up can give you a better ride over a traditional coilover set up. but not a noticable one that you would feel on the streets or even on the track unless your really attuned to the way your car feels. we used it on our formula sae car last year and between that kind of settup and the tradional style there wasnt that much of a diffrence.

Thanks RMerritts and s14derrick.

I think, for my needs, I'll stick to some good ol' fashion Stance GR+ pro's...
