System:

2.2 gig dual core AMD Sempron processor3 gigs of ram320gig SATA driveintegrated NVIDIA GeForce 8200 graphics

Monitor:

20" HD HP

It's a budget PC, and I'm not a gamer at all. I've been playing Starcraft and C&C Red Alert since I was in high school and don't expand much past that for PC games.

I simply want a newer (simple-ish) strategy game that is not super graphics intensive.

I'll probably pick up Warcraft III. Any other suggestions?

I've been playing C&C3 on a system much slower than yours and it's worked fine. I have C&C Red Alert 3, but just never installed it. Sad I know.

A64 34001GB ramGeforce 6800gtEIDE 200GB.

C&C General's Zero Hour worked well on my computer, along with Yuri's Revenge.

Civ 4 (not a RTS) also worked until I installed AVG8, then it sucked up too much memory and my computer freezes while playing it

My newest rig I built back in Thanksgiving and it smoked through C&C3 on maxed out graphics, though on some large maps with a lot of players it would hang up.

Radeon 4870Phenom 99504GB ram (XP recognizes 3.25GB)SATA 1TB (will be 2TB RAID 0)

So buy the games you want, but just keep the graphics in check. I can say C&C3 on maxed out graphics is like a whole other game than C&C3 on low settings.

I wish I could recommend Red Alert 3 but it's just a terrible game and doesn't feel like RA or RA2 at all. Avoid it. If you can manage to find the RA2 collection with the Yuri expansion, that's a good bet. It's fairly old, so your computer is far more than a match.

C&C3 is a whole crapload of fun, as is the expansion. I'm running it on an Athlon 3200 (2.2ghz) with 2GB RAM and a Radeon HD2600 just fine.

I'm a big fan of Blizzard RTSs (I have all the warcrafts/expansions and SC and Brood War) but WCIII was a huge letdown. It's not an RTS anymore, it's a roleplaying game with light RTS elements. There's an "upkeep" element that punishes you for having a big army and for WCII and Starcraft players it just feels wrong. It also doesn't support widescreen due to its age so if you have a WS monitor it'll be stretched.

Check out "Plants vs Zombies" if you like simple strategy games.
