I've watched amateurs and pros drift. The same laws of physics apply to both classes when they lose control. In either case, the bigger object wins the battle.
I must give kudos to the gentlemen running Nicofest Carlisle for stopping the event and getting people away from the track. There was an extremely steep bank right behind where a lot of people were standing at one point. People could have got sandwiched between the car and the bank. Actually, the bank was more like a cliff. There was absolutely nowhere to go if someone went off course.
It's a shame the event in this video happened. But, I hope a lot of people see the video. And devices can be put into place to minimize or prevent accidents like this.

Not sure if you saw this, but right after Bubba1 (the staffer who was running the track at Carlisle) coned off an area for every one to stand, a drifter went off the track there and ended up right where everyone was standing only minutes earlier.
when i die, no one cry for me. erect a flag pole, shoot and animal, bury it, then spit on its grave. ok, i guess you can pour some beer out of a 40 for your dead homie.

Coupe, if you're not willin' to go face-first during "that time", you're doing it wrong. Hard work and self-sacrifice, brotha - makes a man a man. If you're still wussing out, just pretend it's a rare steak.
This is gonna sound mean but those people were just downright stupid for standing there, I'm not saying they deserved it but they should have used some common sense.
some ppl dont really realize how to drift. something i learned (the hard way) is not to hit the dam brakes. you can see the brake lights as hes spinning.
if you start going too far sideways: DONT TOUCH THE BRAKES, let off the gas pedal, if possible shift to netrual (clutch), correct your steering, try not to oversteer/understeer. - shifting to netrual is not required but recomended. as soon as your sure you are striaght then apply the brakes. the best way to learn this is put your car sideways on purpose in a big open spot (parking lot) say on ice or snow, then imagin there was someone standing not to far away and try to avoid it.
doing all that in about .5 second is kinda hard but if you can pull it off you can save yourself from some trouble.
mastering drifting isnt just about drifting, its also about being able to recorrect at the end of the corner. I have seen guys drift corners perfectly, then smash into the curb on the other side, and total their car.
