  Z24i Headers...

So i decided looking in to Header(s) upgrade following a *small* mean exhaust 2 1/4 - 2 3/4 ....
But when i started scatering local shop's Vancouver BC no one had anything, only on the net the cheapest i could find was 170 but i think its OEM or something similar 1 3/4(i think) then some other one but the price are 300-700 are these guys sirious...can anyone give me some info on this where i can find some headers quility but not over 350----with shipping or local...
And is it a good idea in general?
P.S So i started looking in to Ignition System...Bought my self some Spark Plugs MotorMaster Premiums.....The old ones from the privious owner were NGK good company nothing againts it but man the new Spark(s) make such a difference the idle is smoother no more miss firing and other crap...the rev line is way smoother too no "jumpy" stuff(cant explain)... so i did a little test first put them (4) at the exhaus side turned the car on a little difference, then the intake side(OMG what a nightmare it was to change them there had to the the hole air filter system out)so 8 of them are in,feels like i got a v8 there)))turn the car on,yes they do make a big difference,so i thought why not and go buy some wires now,got my self some v8 set not hight end but something primium cant remember the name...put them on looks nice brand new black, but not a big difference in the power or sound wise,,,,so this got me horny, went back to the store looking for the Ignion Coil i think thats whats it called but canadian tire did have it...went to lorco they had one 95$....didnt make that upgrade but still thinking of doint it....maybe do the distrubutor cap and rotor with thee coil so i dont do everythingat ones not step by step....
so my list for the parts i want to put on the car everyday goes longer and longer....

nope... look harder... i have an 85 and i'm running pacesetter

i'm happy with it as well!

the header tubes themselves are something like 1.3" diameter into a 2" pipe up to the cat section... then i have a high flow cat and from the cat back i have 2.25" piping

made a fair difference for me... not so much in the low end but mid and top were better

as for the rest of my exhaust system... the high flow cat and resonator plus header make it loud as s***!!! i hit 95 decibels at auto x... so did it make a difference to run this full system??? YES! is it almost too loud? yeah but i like the sound of it

i think our legal limit is something like 90... its loud but daily driving i assume mine doesn't get much over 80-83... but remember i don't have a muffler only a resonator

http://store.summitracing.com/...00091

this is the search result for my truck... 1985

the engine is the same so i see no reason why the headers won't fit up properly... you can also search your truck year... the painted ones are the ones i chose because they are cheaper... however be aware the paint flakes off immediately... the silver coated ones are more expensive but will look good for a long time!

Holy,by the way how much power are you making right now?
Is there a point of getting a z22 camshaft or a newer one for the z24?just looking at the other opportunities, can get one for about 160 here!

you should do a cam regrind if you want to do cams...

other opportunities... the rest of your exhaust, carb, airflow etc

i don't really know what i make... i guess the motor was stock with 101 crank hp... so with my full exhaust, intake mods, pulstar plugs and 93 octane carb setup (91 w/E85 splashing) my best guess is between 140 and 150 crank... but then take into account altitude and i'm more around 135 crank as the best estimate

i've fully stripped EVERYTHING in mine tho so the power is enough to make it like a go kart at auto x... i've beat all the tools that talk s***... my fav being some guy in a 400awhp sti that couldn't even come within 7 seconds of my time

Find a Doug Thorley header for the Nap-z engine. It not cheap but its worth it. I had one on my 88 and loved it. Also had 44 Mikuni's, a Competition cam with .44 lift and 262 duration. It had a nice little lope to it at idle. I ran a Mallory 160 gallon per hour fuel pump and regulator. Had Jacobs coils and custom plug wires. Damn, I miss that truck. Toughest thing is not being to bump the compression. That engine wasn't designed to be high comp.

Be careful when you go to carbs, you may need to change the distributor to an older 200sx one like I did.

Just got back into it. I bought a 94 base std cab. Has issues but only has 110k on it. Stay tuned for pics.

Good Luck
Aaron

sounds kinda like my future build on mine... lookin for cheap mikuni's in good condition (good luck i guess lol) or at least a good weber... same idea for me on the cam... weld up the distributor.... and call it good...

i got the pacesetter header and it works great.... i ceramic coated the cheap one myself and the underhood temps dropped significantly

i'm basically looking to do a consistent 'no worries' power build with about 200 hp... along with my suspension mods it'll be a little beast at the track

with the Mikunis and air cleaners , they extend past the stock air cleaner assy. I figured mine with tuning was putting down 170-175 hp at the wheels. Bogged a little until you got past 2500 hen hold on to 7000. The closet thing since was my 98 4Runner with a TRD supercharger. Realy good then 3500-5500 it keeps pullimng harder and harder.

On the Mikunis get 40;s if you can or a 650-750 cfm 4-barrel carb (rare setup). Anything more and it won't do anything til the upper rpm's.

the biggest thing is i'm doing something most people haven't tried so i don't know for sure what size to use of anything yet............ E85 changes things

but fuel is my next mod because i'm not getting consistent delivery at the track... after that will be new suspension... then the engine build

I heard putting a FPR on the return line helps, not sure on carb'd motors though.
