Well people, i decided to drop the car off at the dealer to have the fuel gauge problem fixed. Got tired of constantly watching my milage. So the first phone call i got was that there would be a $127 diagnostic charge to see what's the problem...OH GOODY!!! The second phone call was to inform me that my check engine light was on. But it wasn't on when i dropped the car off, and that would be another $127 because it's a different type of diagnostic.

I love everything about my car( expect for the minor problems) I always wanted one of these and now i have one. But, and i do mean BUT. If it was to miracusly catch on fire, ...i wouldn't be that mad

Well my warranty will not cover the replacement of the cluster gages. The dealer wants $709 to install.

So i went on Everythinginfiniti.com and saw that i can order the part for $210 shipped. Looks like i'll be putting in some gages.

Have any one done this before..? Are there any special tools that i would need..?

Any help is appreciated

Show them the thread here and tell them this is a known issue that Infiniti fails to recognize. If that doesn't work get Infiniti Corperate involved and change dealers. I got mine replaced out of warranty for free, there is no reason they should not cover yours if you still have a warranty in effect. That is just BS!

Call Infiniti Consumer Affairs at 1-800-662-6200, button 7.

I just got my gauge cluster replaced to fix the misleading reading. Was done under Extended Warranty, so I don't know what would have happened without that in place.

I had mine replaced under warranty at Bommarito Infiniti in Ellisville, MO last year, they even replaced my battery ( pro rated ). Where are you taking yours?

Boon, Any luck selling your car? I only ask because we have the same exact car, and I may be selling mine shortly.

Thanks, CD

Ah! Sorry about that ...

My own experience with after-market warranties has been poor too (in my old Q45). So, this time, I went with an Infiniti extended warranty on my 2003 M45.

Nothing yet. I am not aggressively trying though, don't even have a for sale sign on the car. I love it, and don't want to get rid of her, she is just getting up there on miles. I'll let ya know though.

Still call Infiniti Corp. I was out of warranty all together and still had mine replaced under good faith repair. I'm telling you show them the post in here that has like 100% member fail rate and they might be willing to help.

Here's the update on my fuel gage fiasco. I called Infiniti Consumer Affairs and they agreed to fix the fuel gage problem. I didn't even have to get loud or use profanity.

So i would like to thank everyone who gave me the advice to make that call. I would also like to thank GOD, my producer, you the fans, and my family and friends for their support during these trying times....

This is great news you got them to cover the costs. I wish I would have thought to call consumer affairs back when I had a QX4. I had all kinds of stupid little issues that for some magical reason, were not covered on the warranty... imagine that.

Anyway, glad you got it taken care of and thanks for posting your results after calling them.

Thanks,Doug

709 dollars to install a cluster gauge? Are those people out of their f'ing minds?!?!?! Even if that includes the equipment that's absurd.

Ok guys I have the same problem. I guess I need to call the dealer, and then most likely Infiniti Consumer Affairs! I'm glad I found this thread. Thanks to Z!

Kingpin,

I tried going through the dealer. when that didn't work i went straight to Consumer Affairs. It only took about a day or so for them to agree to fix it. But it took the dealer about two weeks because they kept putting me due to that fact that they weren't getting any money from me(IMO). Good luck

Kingpin, this is the main thread that people have shown dealers and Infiniti Corp. zerothread/316682

Please add your info to it so we can keep track all in one thread. This should also help with your battle if thats what it turns into. Good luck!
