My daughter received a digital camera as a gift (Canon Power Shot A470) and the storage card that came with it is 32MB. She took 8 pics and it's full. Can anyone tell me what capacity/ type/ brand of card I should buy for it? we are going on vacation, so the more storage the better.

Thanks

P.S. Mods...please do not move this thread, i will also post it in the other appropriate forum

it takes a standard SD memory card.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...20(SD)

or you can go to bestbuy and get one...

I've got a 1gb Sandisk Ultra II card in my camera....it's good for close to a 1000 pics I think...

it's probably the easiest type of card to find...you can get one at Wal mart if you don't feel like ordering.

I like Sandisk as far as brands go.

My San Disk UltraII 2GB holds almost 2000 pics on my 6mp Cannon. Just make sure you get a name brand, downtime between taking pics will be less.

Also, places like Costco, Sam's, etc... usually have pretty cheap SD cards. They're so dirt cheap now it's ridiculous.

I been rocking a 2 gb sd card for 2 years now... I also turned down the resolution to 1600x1200, but set to the highest quality.. with that it lets me have 1855 pictures..

If I set to highest resolution and quality.. 711 pics..

I have a Canon IXY 800IS... the memory card is A-Data...

Crucial is the best out for memory cards.

You can check out newegg

and 4 gbhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/...20(SD)

as you can see they are pretty dirty cheap.. don't buy from best buy..

do read user feedback and make good judgment..

good card.

it's hard to beat newegg's prices on a lot of stuff...especially with the customer service they provide.

on your Powershot you can adjust the size of the photos. She is shooting probably at the highest quality (which I believe it defaults to). If you press the menu button and scroll to the bottom setting you can shoot at a lower megapixel and still get just as clear images. She will eventually need a bigger card though.
