Well first off I have to say, thank goodness for online forums. I have been really stuck with a car problem and I think that you guys are the best resource I have.

The problem:Engine takes 1 minute of solid cranking to start. The starter works because it is brand new. It starts quicker in warm weather than in cold. I have tried taking the air filter off to see if there is a bad air mixture but it still starts over just as easily. After I start it for the first time in the day, it will start up much easier 6 hours later.

The new parts:New starterSpark plugsDistributor capspark plug wiresbattery

Someone also put in a new webber carb a while ago.

I will be changing the oil out today as well just because I have free time and it needs a change.

Any comments and suggestions are welcomed as I am out of ideas.

sounds like your fuel bowl is either low or leaking, might want to go through the carb(s)

What is the fuel bowl?I have been working on cleaning the carb with an outside cleaner and I just put a fuel injector in there.

ok I give up, how do you put an injector into a carburator!?....

the fuel bowl is the part of your carb where the fuel line goes in, it's got a float and a needle valve to regulate the flow of fuel into the carb, most likely your carb is leaking fuel out, either outside the carb or into the engine, and so it has no fuel to feed the engine when you hit the kep, you have to crank a few times to pump the fuel back into the carb before the engine will fire

The easiest way to have your B210 in good order until you gain a little more knowledge about auto mechanics would be to take it to a friend's shop, or a garage you know for a tune up.

Your caburetor might need adjustment, the bowl could be sticking as it was said, also the points/condenser could be worn out. I am sure it is nothing serious, but it is better to pay someone to do it rather than mess things up while trying.

If you want to try it, buy a set of points/condenser, spark plugs, cables, cap and rotor and air filter, and install these parts. Well, I think you already got those parts huh? Remember to gap the spark plugs. Set the timming and the points correctly.

Again, if not sure, go to a mechanic, or ask at this forum for someone that lives close to you for help with this.

Oh I'm sorry that doesn't really make sense I put a fluid in with my gas that hopefully helped clean my carb.

The main reason why I have not taken it to a shop is because I have no money and I am unemployed. I think I have tried everything else so probably going to a shop would be the best idea. It is getting warm in Seattle so the starting up problem is going away gradually. Hopefully I can get it fixed by fall (or have another car

If there is a vacuum leak, can I just buy a new carb and it might fix it? Also, what kind of carbs will work with a datsun b210 (A14 engine)? And would a carb be easy to fine.
