Aight so im swapping the ka out of a 240sx but im not sure if I want to go with a sr20det or RB250det. Everybody is telling me different things and I just want to hear it from some really knowledgeable people. I figured this would be the best place to ask. Thanks for helppin!
I did the SR swap. It was simple and easy. I would recommend it to anybody. You will get the perma-grin "my face hurts" from smiling so much. Lots of power. Also important. If you need a daily driver...It starts everyday. Doesn't matter if it is -10 or +100.
Personally I'd go SR20. Way lighter. If you want that oohhh I've got an RB appeal than go for it. But past that and the RB sound, there really isn't anything an SR cant do in the same platform. You'll have more room to work around, you'll maintain better weight distribution, and most importantly, you've only got 4 holes to pay to have filled instead of 6. As far as power output goes, it used to be a blowout, but with work, there are a few SR20 cars running just as fast as the RB cars down the 1320. As far as the DD goes, it's a simple motor, it should get better mileage, and provided you keep an eye on the rocker arms and do the proper work to the top end of the motor... It'll get you home every time.
