For those you can got to Auto Zone, Advance auto you get the gist. Because Autozone and all the others are just as good as OEM for that part only as far as I know.

Actually Andy turned me on to a strut that works great. It was a Strong Arm.

He got his off eBay.

Nope, no luck. I went to almost all the auto parts stores in the neighbourhood from autozone to pep boys to kragen and none of them carry any hood struts for my 99 Q45. We don't have Advance Auto in L.A. The dealer/stealer quoted me $167 for a pair, what a rip off. Guess there's no option but ebay.

If you want I can buy them for you at my advanced auto and send them to you.

Just $10 more for gas and $5 for shipping if you want so what ever their price which is.

Let me know and I can find out what there prices are tomorrow.

Actually there isn't a Advanced auto near you unless you go to Texas.

I just purchased the hood struts for my car. I have to find time to put them on today. Is there anything that I need to be aware of? Maxnix I think you stated earlier that you took off the bracket to get to the bolt easily right?

Make sure the hood is fully supported. Remove the bracket on the hood side (3 bolts) then you should be able to separate the strut. The lower end is a lot easier to remove. The replacement kit must have the ball mounts. If not, you have to cut the socket from the old strut to take out and re-use the ball mount.

I just installed some Strong Arm (model 6317) supports on my 2000 Q45...ordered for 49.00 including shipping for the set. If you're replacing OEM supports/struts, you need to cut the ball screw out of the OEM supports. Total time was about an hour.

Have to ask them. It pays to shop for price, service after the sale, and know the return policies.
