this is just meant to be a refernce to anyone wanting to do a similar type of wire tuck. there are many ways to do it, but i just figured i'd share mine since it is very extensive and may be useful to others. i was going to post this i my build thread but i thought this would be easier to fine for anyone searching for wire tuck info.

Now this may be a little crazier then some people want to go, but enjoy anyways. i want to point out that a lot of the credit goes to mrgreeneyes. he did most of the wiring work and is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to s13 wiring. (he has literally told me what a certain wire is for based on its color and where its at )

large part of this project focused on the body harness. One day i got the crazy idea to remove the section of the body harness that runs in the engine bay, the one that runs down the fender, across the rad support, up the other fender and into the smj. i thought i'd rather have that harness connect at the smj and run across the dash bar next to the wiring already located there. this project started back at the tail end of summer, so on a nice day in september we laid the entire harness out in the yard and stripped out everything not needed, and when i say stripped out, we completely removed stuff back to the smj and pulled the pins. after everything was removed and the harness was stripped of the split loom and tape, we laid everything inside the car to mock it up. we came to the conclusion that only a few wires need to be run outside of the cockpit. on the passenger we ran wiring only for the headlight, headlight motor, wiper motor, washer motor, bumper lights and fender markers. the only thing i still need run on that side is a single wire for the sohc sensor in the lower rad hose. but for the most part, the bundle on that side looks like thisas you can see its much smaller then the original bundle that runs there and the little lip was bent so that the wires can run on the side of the fender area instead of underneath, so there is no chance of them being rubbed through by tires.the wiring inside went from thisto this mess

that was it until now since i was focusing on other parts of the project, but we started up again last week, and it was time to tackle the mess in the dash area. i don't have any pics of this step, just the finished product. we unbolted the dash bar and took the harness with it. we laid the dash frame against the wall and used it as a reference to mock up the wiring for how long everything needs to be. every single wire was individually untangled and cut to the proper length. this got rid of lots of excess wire and we somehow found more stuff to completely remove. after everything was mocked up we bolted the frame into the car and made sure everything fits perfectly. i then lengthened the wires for the driver side (headlight, headlight motor, fender marker and bumper light) i still have to run a wire for the horns. with everything extended all that needs done is some loom and mounting a few factory fuses that are being reused for other things. this is currently how its sitting thoughthe plan has changed slightly. i was going to mount the fuse block in the glovebox, but keegan convinced me to mount it to the dash frame and it'll work out nicely.

with the body harness taken care of (for the most part) it was tie to tackle the engine harness. keegan spent 8 hours alone just on that. everything was untangled, lengthened, shortened or removed individually. the entire harness was untangled and is insanely clean. i had done a semi tuck on it before but everything was changed just a little. the injector wires run in the intake manifold along with wires from the mafs, cas and tps. the only wires you'll really see are the cas and mafs running across the front of the motor. everything else is cleanly taken care of. on to the picshow the coil pack wiring will gothe master at work. we ziptied the ecu plug to the engine stand so everything could be mocked up nicely.the tangle we started with

the injector wiring i mentioned

very tedious work

everything slowly getting there

after everything was done outside of the car we laid everything in and bolted up the ecu and snaked everything through the firewall grommet. i forgot to mention but the wire harness for my avcr was wired into the engine harness. ^ i love these pics. thats with all the body harness run, so those in the bay are the only wires that will be in the engine bay at all. and that makes me happy.

there is still a little more to do, but everything should be done next week. i still have to order a few little wiring goodies though. feel free to ask any questions and i hope this comes in handy

Good work! I'll be doing this to my S13 soon but I'm just rechecking the wiring, and basically memorizing the S13 FSM's wiring diagram. Are you going to be using sleeving or wire loom? Because imo sleeving comes out REAL clean.

BUTT CONNECTORS?!!? lol

Why are there so many butt connectors?

It looks like you soldered/heat shrinked everything else.

Nice, Im at the same phase as you in my civic, wire tuck. I want to attempt a brake line tuck also, and since my funds are too low to finish buying my fuel system, ill just keep tucking/cleaning until I stumble across a little stimulus lol.

the harness is from someone elses car, teh butt connectors were already there, but they were eliminated when everything was cleaned up

yeah i thought about a brake line tuck, but i'm fine with the way they are. i think i'm gonna mount my boost solenoid under the vents at the bottom of the windshield

yeah in where the rods connect to the wiper arms. keegan keeps coming up with some pretty good ideas and we're both perfectionists who refuse to cut corners so this is what happens. theres gotta be at the very least 25 hours in just the wiring

^ the body harness part would be exactly the same regardless of the engine, and the engine harness wouldn't be hugely different

we were up til 4:30am the other night doing this...

nice thing is, once we draw up the pin layout for every plug on the engine harness, de-pin, and flez loom, ill have those diagrams for my sr swap...

its been a lot of work, but only having one 1/4" harness and one 5/8" harness in the bay... will be amazing. and my body harness will have nearly 1/4 of yours if only youd let me delete the light motors... lol... i know i know...

monday i have off. hit me up

and the F(ail)WD shirt is mine. that sexy beast is me. altho jeff managed to make me appear stoned in all those pics... i wasnt stoned, i was all hopped up on green tea...

and i swear to god, someone say something else about the effing butt connectors. THEY ARE GONE!!! i dont do that crap. its ALL soldered and taped with high quality supplies (mmmm, plymouth tape and pro-grade solder...)

Wow. Wiring is such a PITA to me that I usually have someone else do it, just like Keegan is doing yours This looks like it will be quite nice once finished. I ote for flame/heat resistant/repelent sleeving as well for the engine bay wiring, esp. since your wires are inside of the intake mani.

yeah it's funny, wiring scares the **** out of a lot of people, but once you get in there is relatively simple (for the most part). i'm pretty confident in most of what we did, i even did a lot of cleaning up the harness with out keegans help (this was a few months back when i did a mild tuck) but i seriously just turn him loose on it, even the stuff i could do myself, he does it better and faster. yeah the sheaving should be here on monday so i'm really excited.

keegan- i think i can get my monday shift covered and hopefully the wirecare stuff will be here by then

like i said, the main bulk is universal, just teh engine harness is sr specific and even then its similar; lengthen injector wires, tuck in mani, etc
