Has anyone else had a problem with the axillary sockets when used with two devices? I keep my cell phone plugged into the console socket and use the dash socket for my GPS or iPod. At some point (very intermittently) the fuse blows. Any suggestions? I can't imagine I'm running enough amperage to blow the fuses.

I have the same setting as you: Garmin GPS always plugged on the dash socket and Motorola cell phone plugged, when in need to be recharged, in the console socket. I had a LG cellphone before and never had a problem.

Do you always plug in your cellphone when you climb in your car? seems to be the only difference between us but I don't see that at major.

Don't think it is your config, looks logical and normal.

Does the fuse blow when both are connected?

May be you should ask the dealer to check if you have a short circuit in the wiring. I know he is not that cooperative but I don't see another solution except do it yourself but troubleshooting wirings is a pain.

The cell phone stays connected and the the other two alternate as needed. I can't put my finger on when the fuse blows, as I just notice on occasion my cell phone is dead or when I plug the GPS or iPod in they don't work. I've blown 3 fuses in 6 months.

One thing that can cause this problem is a high resistance connection on the aux plug. The high resistance connection causes the circuit to draw a higher amperage than just what the appliance pulls. Look into the socket with a flashlight and see if there is any discoloration on the bottom of the socket. The discoloration is caused from heat. If that connection is good then check where the hot wire terminates in the fuse panel. I am offering this as just something else to look at.High resistance connections are dangerous because the heat generated can sometimes start a fire, or if you're lucky just melt the wire. I have seen high resistance connections melt copper bus bars in 480 and 208 volt distribution panels.

I have seen aftermarket and generic knock off cell phone chargers actually draw in excess of the 15 amps the circuit is protected for. Are the devices you are powering using the original charging cables? I am not completely sure about the Rogue but most Nissans use independent fuses for every power socket.

Like IdaCrue mentioned check for anything inside the socket and you may want to think about replacing the charger cable.

That sounds really interesting. I know 12V DC systems inside and out but large AC systems are mind blowing in comparison. The capabilities and requirements to make the systems the system work, very impressive. When I get bored with what I do I would really like to work on becoming an electrical engineer.

As a mater of fact I'm using a generic charger for the phone vs the original which I no longer have. I have used it in the past on other vehicles with no problems but it may be the catalyst for this problem. I will remove it and see how things go. Thx.

Well.... I can answer "Yes" to this problem! I discovered if I plug my LG cell phone into the dash socket and my Garmin into the console socket it blows the 15A power outlet fuse. Not immediately every time sometimes in in 5 minutes... sometimes in 5 weeks... ! To give ou an idea, I've now replaced the fuse for the 6th time in the last 7 months.

I am using a genuine LG vehicle charging cable that I purchased from Verizon at the same time I got my phone. I am also using the original Garmin vehicle charging cable that came with my Garmin GPS unit. Neither cables are aftermarket. My wife also has an LG car charging cable... I tried it as well... makes no difference... the power outlet fuse still blows.

Goblins Rogue is a 2008 AWD SL and mine is a 2009 FWD SL so the problem is not isolated to one particular year or model. (unless the problem is tied to additional current draw in the SL models). My Rogue has been perfect in every way... except for the blowing of fuses.

Just FYI... (directly from the owners manual ... it states:) Avoid using power outlet when the air conditioner, headlights or rear window defroster is on. In other words (according to Nissan) you can't charge your cell phone or use a GPS system at night if your headlights are on.

The manual also states: Do not use double adapters or more than one electrical accessory. Okay... if I only plug in one device I've never blown the fuse but I find it hard to believe a cell phone charger and a GPS charger are enough to blow a 15A fuse. I'm more apt to believe its a design flaw in the electrical system.

The Rogue is the exception then. Both the console and dash outlet are wired to a common 15A fuse.

Goblin I thought you got rid of your Rogue a few months ago??

Yeah I found your posts in the CVT rattle thread, you were describing how glad you were to have gotten rid of the Rogue and driving the superior Tacoma, what happened, did you get rid of the Tacoma and get another Rogue, or are you just bs**ting us here?
