The chrome/plastic? trim that surrounds the windows on my '90 Q45 is beginning to discolour. Its losing its shine and turning a white colour. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a good way to restore the shine ? Also what sort of products are you guys using to maintain the sheen on your trim? Thanks for your time and as always i look forward to hearing your responses.

If you can obtain a German product called Simichrome, that should work.

Simichrome will not do a thing. Been there...done that.

What has happened is that the clear coat is rotting in multiple small spots. You will have to take the molding off the car and use paint stripper to remove the old clear coat and then you will need to re spray it with a fresh coat of clear.

Time consuming PIA.

There's no quick fix.

Pain in the butt, perhaps, but it will look great when you're done. Worth the effort if you ask me.

Once you have fresh clear on it, just wax it regularly to keep it looking nice and prolong repeated fogging from exposure to sunlight. If you want to be really careful, a car cover will help there, too. I always kept my Maxima under a cover when I had to park it outside, and it definitely showed in the condition of the paint and chrome.
