I run XP. Macs have their time and place. Usually for those who could care less how their computer works and just want it to do what they want.

I actually care how my computer works, why it's doing what it's doing, how to make it do more, do it faster...etc.

I can't for the life of me understand why those in the Creative Fields, like myself, prefer Macs

I bout an iMac 2 years ago... (for those who don't know what an iMac is, its the desktop where the flat screen is your whole desktop) After previous years with windows (dell, hp, compaq, gateway...) I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER WINDOWS MACHINE AGAIN!!!! ONCE YOU GO MAC YOU WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!! there is nothing bad to say about this computer... never freezes, never gets errors, viruses, never have to restart... it just works.

I have three:1) 2008 Lenovo T61 Thinkpad. Its a beast (4g of ram, 160gb 7200rpm HD, etc.)2) 2004 Sony Vaio S. Not bad for its age.3) 2000 Dell Desktop. Horrible, I believe its proc is 667m and it has pieced together ram (1 256m stick and 1 128 stick).

Home 2006 Sony wide screen laptop Windows XP Pro

Work 2008 Dell Latitude Windows XP Pro (the battery on this thing really lasts 3 hours!)

Home 2003 Windows ME that I built from parts bought at Frys. 2.4 gig P4 800mhz FSB, Gigabyte board, 1064 megs DDR3200, 250 gig hard drive + 80 gig back up and it connects wirelessly. I had to really edit the INI files to get it ME to support the hard drive, ram and wireless connection to the interweb. Sadly it is failing, I had it overclocked for most of 2003 to play games I'm sure it took its toll.

New machine is in the closet just needs to be finished. 3.06 gig P4, another gigabyte board, 2 gig DDR 4200 and a much smaller case. It will run XP pro

I do LOVE Windows ME because I am invisable to virus's and spyware sure it blue screens once in a while but I can usually get it to recover without a reboot just by being patient and letting it finish whatever process is using all my processor or ram.

Built mine. It's an ASUS P5K-SE mobo P35 northbridge, runs a dual core E2160 1.8Ghz OC'd to 3.6Ghz, Thermalright 120 Extreme cooler (air), Nvidia 9600 GT OC, 4 gigs of DDR2 6400, Vista Home prem, 600w power supply, Antec 900 case, Bose audio, dual 19" HD flat screen montiors... Yeah, it's badass.

2 Gateway laptops both with XP. I had Toshiba before. I believe it was A30. Did not run good. Overheated all the time.

So far no issue with any of the Gateways. 1.5 and 2.5 year old.

Well said... I do use a Powermac G5 at work, but I use an HP running vista @ home, or the acer laptop for the road...

As for designing and stuff... PC's are really quick, I find vista has the fastest start up times for any creative suite programs period... I know it lacks in other areas, but I love the agility of the PC.

The Macs have ups and downs, I just prefer the PC format as well

Yeah, a friend of mine has one like that. I don't know. I do take good care of the battery (never leave it charging, almost always give it a full charge, etc).

If its replacing a ThinkPad for another ThinkPad or ThinkCentre and its better than the shareholder's program, I'm definitely interested. The X series are on blowout right now.

I have an Hp Dv9000 with 2.0 gig dual processors, dual 120 gig hd's, 2gigs of ram.. 17" Screen.

I have a dock with it 22" screen Altec lansing speakers, Lexmark Priter, and logitech wireless keyboard and Mouse.

Love the set up and never gets slow! I can get 2.5 hr out of the battery with brighness all the way up on the screen!

I purchased a MacBook Pro Loaded. 2.5 dual gig processor, 320gig hd 7200 rpms, 4gig ram, high def screen, and a superdrive!

I installed vista ultimate, and mirrored my Hp notebook to the Macbook! I love it! So lite and thin! 5hr battery life, And it looks sweet with the light up keyboard!

Im not sure what to do but I hate having 2 computers lol! To much work moving data back and forth lol!

I think im going to sell the hp on ebay! I can hook my macbook pro to all of the desktop items lol

New to the Mac thing.. but how do you run vista as an app from mac os x?

When did you get your first computer?

I had a computer in 1982, it was an Apple II C, with 128 k ram and a floppy disk drive. You had to load DOS before you could do anything LOL

Also I was 4.

My 3 year old son plays Disney games on our Sony Laptop. It is funny to see him using the mouse and keyboard. A couple weeks ago we were at Target returning something and he was playing with the gift registry computers while he waited for us. When we finished and said time to go he said wait a second I'm just checking my email LOL

I play with the display Macs whenever I'm in the Apple store. I can not believe how thin they are!
